Wait 4 biopsy result: What imaging did you have to evaluate the bone? To disprove that those lesions are not metastatic disease- it requires biopsy to all those lesions and to demonstrate that all biopsies taken from those lesions are negative. My suggestion is for you to wait for the biopsy result- I assume the biopsy was done to one of those bony lesions, correct? I hope they got enough tissue from the right location. Read more

Does lung cancer cause intermittent fleeting rib pain, or would this be advanced disease?? 25, doc says lungs sound clear, 9 -yr pack hstry

Non-specific: Fleeting chest pains are not specific for lung cancer. It could be caused by a host of other benign reasons like muscle pain, rib pain from strain or inflammation. Pneumonia or pleurisy can also cause it. If you are worried about lung cancer and you are a smoker, check with your doctor about a screening CAT scan of the chest. If it is negative, time to stop smoking! Read more

See your oncologist.: Stage IV describes invasive breast cancer that has spread beyond the breast and nearby lymph nodes to other organs of the body, such as the lungs, distant lymph nodes, skin, bones, liver, or brain. Talk to your oncologist to determine the extent/ or remission of the cancer. Stage 4 usually means that cancer was not just in the breast area. Read more

Lipoma or cancer? Soft round lump on lower rib cage. Three ribs up from the bottom left. Movable, rubbery, on top of ribs, no pain, no color change.??

Benign: This sounds like a benign growth if it's quite moveable and has not changed in size or appearance over a long period of observation. However it's best to have your physician examine this lump to be certain. He/she will let you know if a followup exam in the future is advisable. Read more

Colonoscopy: If your X-Ray was not a barium enema, a diagnosis of colon cancer has not been disproven. I don't know if your symptoms warrant an examination for colon cancer. If you do need such an examination, a competently performed colonoscopy will definitively rule out colon cancer. Read more

27 male worried about Pancreatic cancer, upper ab discomfort under left ribs, upper/mid back pain, indigestion. Should I be worried? What are chances?

Wait to worry: Pancreatic Cancer typically affects people over the age of 50 years, so it is unlikely to be a cause of your symptoms at your age. Your symptoms may be all due to Acid reflux causing indigestion. You should try taking antacids of one kind or another. You may use one of: Maalox, Zantac, Pepecid or prilosec and try it for one week. If the symptoms go away, then the likely cause is Acid reflux (GERD) Read more

Can non aggressive breast cancer metastasize to bone? I have er/pr+, her2- breast cancer w tumors in spine and rib. Dr unsure both are related.

Yes, unfortunately: Unfortunately, er/pr positive, her2 negative breast cancer metastasizes to bone quite commonly. On the good side, it usually responds to treatment with hormonal therapy, radiation, and bone strengthening medications very well and patients can live for years. If this is the first possible sign of metastatic disease it is often reasonable to get a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. Read more

I'm really scared got a pain which feels like it In my upper left rib that comes and goes where my bra strap is I'm so scared it's panceatic cancer?

Not pancreatic cance: From your description, I cannot tell you what is causing your pain, but I can tell you that pancreatic cancer does not usually present with pain such as this. Pancreatic cancer is usually pain-free, with unexplained weight loss or jaundice. If your pain persists, I would see your doctor. Good luck. Read more

Sharp pain in the left side of back near bottom of ribs when I breath deep or stretch. Can feel it in chest sometimes too. Been few days. Cancer?

Pain with deep brth: Usually when you have pain with a deep breath we think what grandma used to call pleurisy. inflammation of the lining of the lung. Since you also have pain with movement it most likely is a pulled muscle, one of the small ones between your ribs. Heat, rest and ibuprofen for a couple of days. If it doesn't get better in 2 wks see your Doc. Very uncommon to be a cancer. Read more

Very unlikely: What you described does not fit with cancer. The aches and pains may be part of daily activities. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. Get HPV vaccine Read more
