Symptoms of wolf parkinson white? Can a ssri cause this condition?

Symptoms of wolf parkinson white? Can a ssri cause this condition?

Heart Arrhythmia: Largely, this is a genetic disorder - so there is no reason to think it can be caused by ssris. The symptom list is long and available online. Mostly they relate to cardiac function - i.e., chest pain, weakness, fatigue, etc. Here's more info than you might want: https://en.Wikipedia.Org/wiki/wolff%e2%80%93parkinson%e2%80%93white_syndrome best! ...Read more

Can pots syndrome me an early sign of Parkinson's disease?

Can pots syndrome me an early sign of Parkinson's disease?

POTS not risk for PD: Although people with parkinson's disease may have some signs of autonomic nervous system dysfunction- postural orthostatic tachycardic syndome (pots) is not recognized as a risk factor in the development of parkinson's disease. It can exist as 2 separate entities but it is not believed to be a cause/effect type of relationship. I've included a chart which shows where parkinson's and pots are. ...Read more

Does wolff Parkinson's white (wpw) syndrome occur during birth?

Congenital: Wpw is the syndrome associated with an extra (or accessory) pathway between the top (atria) and bottom (ventricle) chambers of the heart. Yes this is present from birth. Patients with the extra electrical connection may have episodes of extreme tachycardia (rapid heart beat). This can be treated with medication or by ablating the extra pathway in a cath lab. ...Read more

Is it safe to take propranolol for Wolff Parkinson white syndrome? It works well & decreased SVT episodes by 80% already.

Is it safe to take propranolol for Wolff Parkinson white syndrome? It works well & decreased SVT episodes by 80% already.

Generally no: This is a very interesting question. If you truly have WPW, your management (& answer to such a question) should be by your cardiologist. If it is known that you have only orthodromic AVRT (genarally a concealed accessory pathway) then propranolol could be used safely. Otherwise, it could pose danger if you develop atrial fib. However, the modern treatment for WPW w/ frequent SVT is ablation. ...Read more

Havmale 22 have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Will ssri citalopram help with vasoconstriction and symptoms? If so why and how

Can: Sometimes it can help. Other treatments include midodrine, low dose beta blockers, along with volume loading. Finding a neurologist or cardiologist who is interested in pots is the most important and hardest part. Best of luck! ...Read more

Is it common to die suddenly of ventricular fibrillation if I have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and i'm on propranolol?

Is it common to die suddenly of ventricular fibrillation if I have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and i'm on propranolol?

WPW: Most people with WPW have no problem with it. It can however cause vf if certain arrhythmia s like atrial fibrillation happen in a WPW patient. Propranolol decreases the risk of this. In patients with WPW arrhythmia, ablation can remove the visible pre excitation. Talk to your doc about your specific situation. ...Read more

Does wolf parkinson white syndrome cause fluid to build up in my daughter's legs?

Does wolf parkinson white syndrome cause fluid to build up in my daughter's legs?

No: Wolff-parkinson-white (WPW) syndrome describes a condition where there are ECG abnormalities and a predisposition to a rapid heart rate known as supraventricular tachycardia (svt). In almost all patients, the heart function is normal. Very rarely a weak heart muscle is present in patients with WPW and they may have symptoms of heart failure. Even in this setting isolated leg swelling is not seen. ...Read more

How likely is it for me to develop left ventricular hypertrophy from my wolff Parkinson white syndrome? I have many SVT episodes, heart rate 175-200.

WPW and LVH: Unless there is some other associated disorder WPW and LVH are unrelated. WPW can be cured by a catheter ablation especially with symptoms and tachycardia. You should be evaluated by an electrophysiologist. ...Read more

Can anyone have "wolf-parkinson-white syndrome?

Can anyone have "wolf-parkinson-white syndrome?

WPW: Yes. Wpw is the presence of ventricular pre-excitation due to an accessory pathway which can result in fast heart rhythms (i.e. Supra ventricular tachycardia). Risk stratification is important to determine the risk of sudden cardiac death. The main risk during these fast rhythms is usually syncope (fainting). Treatment involves ablation. I would speak with your cardiologist. ...Read more

Can you have dopamine deficiency without Parkinson's disease?

Can you have dopamine deficiency without Parkinson's disease?

Yes: Insightful question. Parkinsons disease, or other parkinsons like conditions have a significant amount of deficiency such that it then begins to affect nerve cell transmission and communication. How much deficiency there has to be to show parkinsons like symptoms is not at all clear but safe to say that the number must be very low. ...Read more

Why is there a delta wave seen in Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) syndrome?

Why is there a delta wave seen in Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) syndrome?

Pre-excitation: Wpw syndrome is commonly diagnosed on the basis of the surface ECG in an asymptomatic individual. In this case it is manifested as a delta wave, which is a slurred upstroke in the qrs complex that is associated with a short pr interval. The short pr interval and slurring of the qrs complex is actually the impulse making it through to the ventricles prematurely (across the accessory pathway) withou. ...Read more

Are cell phones safe for patients of Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) syndrome to use?

Does lidocaine have any effect on psvt and af due to Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) syndrome?

Does Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) syndrome cause seizures?

Does Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) syndrome cause seizures?

Not directly: Wpw is a heart condition associated with cardiac arrhythmia. The classic arrhythmia is supraventricular tachycardia. More serious rhythm problems can also occur and there is an increased risk of sudden death. During arrhythmia, cardiac output can drop, and some people have seizures during times of low cardiac output from arrhythmia. ...Read more

What does Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) present as?

Palpitations: Usually the first sign other than being picked up on an EKG by accident, is in a person who develops a fast heart rate (an arrhythmia classified as supraventricular tachycardia). On occasion, the fast heart rate can lead to passing out (syncopal) episodes, so that will be the presenting symptom. ...Read more

Are the pvcs related to Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) in any way?

Are the pvcs related to Wolff-Parkinson-White (wpw) in any way?

No.: Wolf parkinson white syndrome, aka pre-excitation due to the presence of an accessory pathway would not cause pvc's. Abnormal conduction of atrial impulses through the accessory pathway will lead to fast heart rates at times, this can become life threatening especially in the setting of atrial fibrillation with an inappropriately high rate of conduction leading to ventricular fibrillation. ...Read more
