I would: NOT do this without a consultation with an EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST or PHYSIATRIST...... (the former is a physical therapist trained in exercise the latter a musculo-skeletal specialist M.D.

Weight control and exercise can help. Surgery can help in cases that don't respond to other treatment.
