I have Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc altogether in one pill. It says to take 1 to 3 caplets daily with a meal. Can I take all three at once, instead?
Med Directions: If it says 1-3 daily, then it means all at once. If it were to say take 1 tablet three times a day then it would mean exactly that. If it said to take one tablet up to three times a day then it would be how your are interpreting the directions. According to what you said the correct way is the first, 1-3 tablets all at once, one time a day. ...Read more
I'm in my mid 30s and take vitamins such as calcium magnesium zinc and fish oil on a daily basis. are there any potential risks? is it safe?
Be careful with zinc: Zinc can be helpful in maintaining your healthy immune function, but too much zinc can actually decrease your immune function. Excess zinc can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It can also interfere with the absorption of other essential minerals, particularly magnesium and copper. A copper deficiency can inhibit the transport of iron in the body and result in anemia. The upper limit is 40mg/d. ...Read more
No.: Everyone has a small amount of Lactic Acid in their body. Those who have an excess of Lactic Acid are generally very ill. They need hospitalization and intensive care to reverse the underlying process which has seriously undermined their metabolism. The rest of us have nothing to worry about from physiologic amounts of Lactic Acid and no treatment is necessary. ...Read more

Can I take garlic 1000mg, B12 1000 mcg, magnesium 400mg, zinc 50 mg and fish oil 500 mg daily? Should I space them out during the day?
Talk to your doctor: First if you are taking zinc as there's an upper limit you can take per day, (and it has to be balanced with copper too.) Both needed in trace amounts. So this may be safer in a multivitamin formulation unless you are specifically low dietarily in these supplements. B12 is taken sublingually for maximum benefit taken separately. Garlic and fish oil can be taken together. Call your doctor first! ...Read more

No evidence.: There is no evidence that shows that supplementing magnesium and or zinc helps prevent or treat colds or flu. Vitamin and supplement sales people will say they do, but scientific research doesn't support it (or any other supplement, for that matter). Best prevention is frequent hand washing and having a healthy lifestyle. ...Read more
Suggest me some multivitamins tablet that contain good amount of zinc, calcium, magnesium. And should be safe to use?
Doctors and vitamins:
I hope you understand that the various vitamin products on the market are something that most physicians would not have any expertise in. There are vitamin standards set by the government and daily recommended doses. These are all well displayed on the vitamin products available.
I tell my patients to choose the vitamin of their choice. If they are males the only other caution is that no iron! ...Read more

Unknown. Go natural.: Unless there are specific deficiencies in a woman, going natural is safest. It is not known what happens when a woman takes various drugs or chemicals, nor what is actually in various tablets or potions sold in stores or online. Eating a natural, balanced, healthy diet is safest (one can choose Organic foods if one feels Organic is safer). One can take a trusted brand of a daily prenatal vitamin. ...Read more

Is it true that taking zinc supplements can make an adult over age 33 grow taller? What about calcium magnesium--can that also increase height at 33?
Hi iam talking calcium magnesium and zinc for gaining height. Is it good or not and I am 18 years old and 179cm. My friends in same age are 185...
Little benefit: You are most likely to reach your tallest potential height by following a healthy diet, getting appropriate sleep and remaining physically active. Nothing you eat or drink will add inches to the final specified in your genes. Most over 18 have closed growth centers and will not grow taller, a few will grow a little until 20. Supplements only help if you were deficient. ...Read more

Hi does zma (zinc magnesium vitaminb6) helps increase sperm count an can help to testicles regain they size if they were shrunk?
Nothing can...: The odd to improve sperm count by an individual nutrient is unclear and remains in doubt. In addition, no food or nutrient can help regain testicular size since physical growth naturally stops soon reaching adulthood, which is attained at about age 18 for men. Thereafter, we have to adopt and adapt what we have grown to. More? Contact me and I can help. ...Read more
