This effect may lead to increased risk of a condition briefly referred to as Torsade which can potentially cause a fatal irregularity in the heart without any warning. This effect can be amplified by taking Levaquin (levofloxacin) with it. ...Read more

TAPER THE METHADONE: If you stop cold turkey, you are going to feel like you have been hit by a truck for many weeks and even months. You will also very likely relapse to your drug of choice again after feeling that withdrawal day after day. The best way is to taper, ideally over at least a 90 day period. There are medications like clonidine that your doctor can prescribe, and you can treat the pain/diarrhea/nausea. ...Read more

What should I do if I have a heroin problem and I heard that I can take methadone to stop. What are the benefits to this. Will I be addicted to methadone then too?
Having worked in: Both Methadone maintenance clinics and having treated narcotics addicts with suboxone, I really see no benefit to methadone. Methadone is a narcotic just like a street drug. It is ultimately more expensive in many cases than Suboxone treatment. It is by no means as convenient, and there is a tendency to continually escalate the dose. With Suboxone dosage escalation rarely if ever occurs. Suboxone is much more well-tolerated and you don't have to deal with pick ups at a clinic where you are continually exposed to other narcotic addicts. If you were thinking about going on methadone, please consider the option of suboxone. ...Read more
