Can I take lansoprazole at the same time as levothyroxine?

Can I take lansoprazole at the same time as levothyroxine?

Yes: Hi. There's a silly notion out there that levothyroxine (LT4) needs to be taken alone. I recommend patients to take it when it's most convenient...usually in the morning with all their pills (and food is fine too). LT4 and lansoprazole have no interaction. LT4 comes in a multitude of incremental doses, and if any medicine or food fractionally impairs absorption, that's cheap and easy to fix. ...Read more

Can I take prevacid (lansoprazole) every other day or even 3 days? When I take the prevacid (lansoprazole) I don't sleep well at night.?

Difficult To Say: Prevacid (lansoprazole) is in the class called proton pump inhibitors. Without knowing your specific condition, it would be difficult to recommend or not recommend dosing every 2 or 3 nights. It takes 12 - 16 hours for these drugs to work after the first dose and based on the half-life of these drugs, you may not get relief without a dose every night. Of course, speak with your physician about any changes. ...Read more

Dr. Told me to take Nexium, (esomeprazole) but it interacts badly with my Valium. I haven't found any interaction with Prevacid. Ok to take with Valium?

Probably: There are drug interactions between almost everything. I can tell you many people take a proton pump inhibitor and a benzodiazepine without any problem, especially if both are taken on as needed basis. I assume you are already avoiding foods that provoke acid reflux, and working on weight loss if overweight. That will cut down need for drugs like nexium, (esomeprazole) unless you have other reasons for taking it ...Read more

I started taking Plavix once a day and I also take Prevacid (lansoprazole) and on occasion Prilosec. Is there any interactions with these drugs?

Absolutely: There is a well know interaction between plavix and proton pump inhibitors. Plavix is a prodrug (inactive) and is activated in the liver. This process of activation is blocked by proton oump inhibitors. Specifically with nexium and prilosec, also somewhat with other ppis. The only one safe to use is dexilant (dexlansoprazole) and possibly protonix. Or change plavix to effient or brilinta under guidance of MD ...Read more
