How long does it takes for ones body to get used to the effects of diltiazem 120mg extended release? I have to take it once a day in the morning.

Diltiazem: Diltiazem, a nonhydropyridine calcium channel blocker, is used to treat blood pressure and certain supraventricular cardiac arrhythmias. It is well tolerated and very infrequently has to be discontinued due to excessive lowering of blood pressure or severe slowing of the heart rate. Any other side effects are unusual and I'm confident you'll not feel differently taking it. Your dose is low. ...Read more

Can I take diltiazem ands metropolol together?

Can I take diltiazem ands metropolol together?

Bb and ca blockers: You can but it may cause decrease in heart rate. Personally I only combine them in some occasions such as uncontrolled heart rate with atrial fib. For svt and you being quite young likely having a high sympathetic tone with high elevations of heart rate your doctor had to end up giving combo pills. The alternatives are not many but ablation may be an option. Good luck. ...Read more

Was on diltiazem 120 mg. Esophageal spasms, em study 360 psi, can you recommend any med, can't take this one any longer.

See your MD: Go see the doctor that gave you the Diltiazem - or find a new doctor if you don't feel you can talk to your current doctor. Explain what the problems are with the Diltiazem and ask for help. Sometimes writing it down and letting the doctor read what you've written helps (keep it to one page or less). Good luck to you. ...Read more

Is it okay to take ibuprofen and diltiazem ER together?

Is it okay to take ibuprofen and diltiazem ER together?

Maybe: What is cause of cramps? Ibuprofen may make BP harder to control. It should be taken occasionally, but not on a regular basis (more than once/twice daily for a few days at a time).
I do not believe Ibuprofen specifically reacts or causes adverse reaction with diltiazem, but it may make BP harder to control by decreasing kidney function (and thus body's ability to get rid of salt/sodium). ...Read more

Is it safe to take dilt-cd (diltiazem) while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Is it safe to take dilt-cd (diltiazem) while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Yes: While I don't feel comfortable saying medications are "safe" during breastfeeding ("compatible" is better), based on limited data, the amounts of Diltiazem ingested by the infant are small and would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. For any questions on medications and breastfeeding, lactmed is a great resource. ...Read more

Asthma hypertension hardtime adjusting to meds itake 90 mg diltiazem 2x day. Also on metoprolol 25mg should I take metoprolol?

Beta blocker;asthma: Although metroprolol (beta blocker) can cause asthma in some patients and in those who have asthma it can make it worse. But there are many asthmatics in my experience who can tolerate metroprolol. If your doctor thinks it is ok for you to take 25 mgm of Metroprolol, you can take it but you have to see if it causes your asthma worse, and if it does than you do not take it ...Read more

After an episode of AF stopped by cardioversion, she has been given diltiazem. Will it stop further episodes of AF? Is it safe to take with irbesartan

After an episode of AF stopped by cardioversion, she has been given diltiazem. Will it stop further episodes of AF? Is it safe to take with irbesartan

Atrial fibrillation: 3 main strategies for AF: 1) medicines like diltiazem or beta blockers to control the heart rate from going fast in AF. These drugs do not prevent AF; they are generally safe but can lower BP and so may need to adjust other pills. 2) antiarrhythmic drugs (such as amiodarone, flecainide, dofetilide, and others) to prevent AF. 3) an ablation procedure to attempt to prevent AF ...Read more

Now I've started taking Diltiazem Tildiem again, how long will it take for the ankle/leg swelling to go? Anything I can do to stop it/help it?

Again?: You say "again". Did you take it before. Why was it stopped? Did it help the swelling before (the tildiem (HCTZ) is a mild diuretic.) Keep your legs elevated as much as possible and avoid salt as best you can to accelerate recovery. If it doesn't work, you may need a stronger med. ...Read more

THEORETICALLY please tell me, With a half life of 4 hours and 60mg 3 times a day, how long could I withhold diltiazem As to take Azithromycin safely?

THEORETICALLY please tell me, With a half life of 4 hours and 60mg 3 times a day, how long could I withhold diltiazem As to take Azithromycin safely?

As Seen On TV???: Theoretically, the drug is 99% out of your body after five half lives (in this case 20 hours). The half life of azithromycin is a lot longer (36 hours; that's why you only take it once a day). you'd have to fiddle with the diltiazem dose or choose another antibiotic. "You" meaning the doctor. Don't do this at home. Dangerous. And for just about anything there is an alternative to azithromycin. ...Read more

I take metoprolol, fosinopril, and diltiazem. What is my doctor thinking?

Hypertension: It would be best if you ask him in a straightforward and unchallenging fashion. Those are excellent medications for the treatment of hypertension. The combination implies you have important high blood pressure. 2 of them could be combined into generic Lotrel (amlodipine and benazepril) & so you could be on 2 instead of 3 medicines. Further history (and physical and lab) would tell us a lot more about you. Hrs www. Thepmc. Org. ...Read more
