Can You Take Claritin D While Pregnant
I am 14 weeks pregnant I took a Claritin D just once is that ok as long as I don't take it again or can it hurt baby?
You're just fine: Claritin D won't hurt your baby even more than once, claritin (loratadine) is category B, while D (pseudoephedrine) is category C, with pregnancy, B is safer than C though, but both are safe, confer with your obstetrician on the next prenatal care visit, wish you a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby ...Read more
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
17 weeks pregnant w/ constant all day all night coughing up yellow phlegm. Dr at 13 wks said use afrin (oxymetazoline) and claritin D. hasn't helped. Sinus infection?
Possible sinus infx: Coughing up yellow phlegm for what appears to be 4 weeks may certainly be related to a bacterial sinusitis. Also contributing to these symptoms may be rhinitis of pregnancy in which changes in hormones causes dilation of blood vessels and subsequent nasal stuffiness. A return visit to your OBGYN or your primary physician for an evaluation would be appropriate. Also avoid using Afrin too much. ...Read more

I take generic Claritin d (loratadine 10mg + pseudoephedrine 280 mg). Would 6 be enough to overdose?
Claritin-D: Claritin (loratadine)-d 12 hour can be taken twice daily chronically but it can have side effects. Taking a decongestant can lead to hypertension or insomnia. I would recommend trying claritin-d in the morning and just standard Claritin (loratadine) at night. This would give you the best treatment with minimal side effects. ...Read more
Yes: Claritin d combines an antihistamine (loratadine) with a decongestant (pseudo-ephedrine). Mucinex (guaifenesin) is an expectorant. These are safe to take together. Would make sure that Mucinex product is plain Mucinex and not mucinex-d (which also contains pseudo-ephedrine) before taking these together. ...Read more

Yes: However, both the "d" in clariten d and the Maxalt (rizatriptan) mlt can cause a feeling of a pounding heartbeat, so beware of this possible side effect. In fact whenever you mix medicines, they can increase some side effects. ...Read more
Can I possibly test positive for something? I was told I had a plus 1 on my drug test and it would be sent to the lab. I do not do any drugs besides take Claritin-D 24 hour.
Once the results: Return - you can determine if the rerun test showed anything. Some things can cause false positives on drug screen panels. But you will need to see what it was positive for before you can see if that might be the cause. ...Read more
Is it safe to take claritin-d every day? Are there long term side effects and what does pseudoephedrine interact with, if anything?
Allergies: In general, it it safe to take antihistamines everyday for allergies. Claritin-d includes the decongestant as you mentioned, and I tend to avoid that for people on a long term basis. It increases vasoconstriction and this has a variety of effects including more work for the heart and elevated blood pressure. There are other medications that can help with congestion. See ent/allergist. ...Read more
I've taken 3 doses of mucinex (guaifenesin) sinus max severe congestion relief today I'm over due for my next dose. Can I take Claritin -D instead now?
Yes: A good idea for self-medicating cold/sinus symptoms is to list your symptoms and present the list to the pharmacist who can guide you through the litany of options. If self-medication fails to improve symptoms or they worsen, best to consult a physician. That said, if you are otherwise healthy (and have no serious heart or blood pressure related condition) can now take the claritin-D. ...Read more

I just purchased 24 hour Claritin D Non-Drowsy for allergies. Should I take this in the AM or PM? Can I consume alcohol while taking Claritin D?

I take Prozac 20mg and wellbutrin (bupropion) XR 150mg once a day. Is it safe to take claritin-d for my allergies while on these meds?
1. Prozac and welbutrin (i think you mean xl) both potentially increase the level of claritin (loratadine). There should be normal liver enzymes on record as this is the mechanism that potentially causes problems.
2. There are other potential interactions between Prozac and welbutrin, especially with any seizures or head injury.
Discuss all with your doctor to be sure you are being safely monitored. ...Read more
Can I take robbutison dj with Claritin d? I have a bad cough with mucus and stuffy nose? Do these interact with eachoher or is it bad
Yes.: Claritin is a non-sedating antihistamine. The D portion is a decongestant, either pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine. Robitussin (plain, guaifenesin or DM, which also has dextromethorphan) are both compatible with claritin. These can all be taken together. (I assume the "dj" you wrote was a typo; if not, please clarify and resubmit your question.) Feel better! ...Read more
I have a sinus infection which makes my head and ears full. Usually take Claritin d 12 hour - it helps but quit and tried mucinex. Not good. Help,?
M 35, 160. took usual AM meds 40 prozac 40 pantoprazole 150 Wellbutrin (bupropion) 24 hr Claritin D. threw up 30 min later from overeating last night. Take again?
It depends: Ultimately my decision would depend on whether or not you saw the medications when you threw up. None of these medications are life-sustaining and therefore if you were to skip a day, nothing would happen. If you were sure that you threw up the medication, you could retake the Wellbutrin (bupropion). The others can definitely wait a day. ...Read more
How long is it safe to take Claritin D? D seems to be the only thing help chronic post nasal drip and fluid in ears. On allergy shots but slow progress.
BP Concerns: The decongestant in Claritin (loratadine) D can be helpful for acute facial pain/pressure and congestion but has side effects which can be significant. If you have a history of blood pressure issues or other cardiac problems I would not recommend. Consider talking with Allergist about other possible treatment due to refractory disease. Drying agents like ipratroprium bromide sprays and methscapolomine can help ...Read more
Is it okay to take Claritin d with Tylenol cold for my nasal congestion? Nothing seems to be working. Stuff nose watery eyes sneezing headache?
Yes: There are no interactions between Tylenol &Claritin D. The Tylenol should relieve your headache. The Claritin-D should improve your congestion and cold / allergy symptoms.
