Can You Stretch Out Your Stomach After Gastric Sleeve
It's up to you: With any barietric procedure the patient can "out eat" the procedure. I have had this happen many times. If you get your post-op calories from solid food it is hard to gain weight. But suppose you get most of your post-op calories from liquids (e.G coke or scotch). You will cause the procedure to fail. This happens more than we would like to admit. You can ruin the operation in a few months. ...Read more

Tight at beginning: The ideal gastric sleeve should be fairly tight at the beginning (usually a 34 fr bougie), should begin about 1 inch from the pylorus (the end of stomach), and go directly to the angle of his right next to the esophagus. I had gastric sleeve in 2010 and am starting to gain weight after losing 90 pounds. Will my stomach shrink back if I eat less?
Prob not: Stomach is a dynamic organ and expands as we eat and than empties slowly over time. Surgery on stomach to restrict capacity works well for most people but stomach capacity can get bigger over time. So now you have to rely on ur habits and visual cues and food diary to figure out how many calories ur are taking in. Also need to work on burning more calories than u take in. ...Read more
If I have cihrosis of the liverand my liver has attached itself to the top of my stomach is it possible to do the gastric sleeve?
Risks: Scarring of liver (cirrhosis) increases risks of surgery. Any surgery, esp w/general anesthesia can cause liver to "decompensate"-a messy, slippery slope of clinical badness: infection, bleeding, worsening mental status, fluid retention, kidney failure, maybe death. That is a factor above and beyond the technical diff re: anatomy w/stomach. Discuss all options w/your doc and surgeon. ...Read more

It's more accurate to say the pancreatitis caused the sleeve procedure!!!
well, obesity which causes the sleeve procedure also causes pancreatitis through gallstone formation and other reasons.
Then, the pancreatitis causes leaks in TEN PERCENT of those who have it. Pancreatitis can cause collection of fluid. Imaging studies would show what is going on. ...Read more
