What is the best thing i can do to treat a sprained ligament on the inside of my ankle?

More serious: The ligaments on the inside of the ankle are much stronger than those on the outside. It would be prudent to have an X-ray to make sure there was no bony damage. In the meantime, rest, ice, compression, and elevation are standard treatments. You may need to wear a boot or a brace depending on severity. ...Read more

I work at Sonic & I sprained the inside of my ankle. Should I continue working with roller blades if I have a splint or should I stay off skates?

Probably best not to: There are many different degrees of ankle sprains. But if you are unable to walk on your toes( heels off the ground) without pain , a sensation of weakness you are not ready to put on the skates and or walk around without a brace on. ...Read more

I sprained my ankle years ago. Since, I have had a bump under my ankle on the inside that is hard and sensitive to pressure. Why?

Trauma/sprains: Ankle sprains may result in a number of long-term problems. Sometimes, the ligaments will pull off a piece of bone (avulsion fracture) when you are injured, and this may result in long-term sensitivity or pain. Alternatively, you may have ruptured the ligaments around your ankle. If the problem is bothering you, I would recommend seeing a local Podiatrist to have x-rays and further evaluation ...Read more

Is it ok if I swim when I have tendonitis on the inside of my ankle and a old sprain on the outside of the same ankle? It has been collapsing a lot.

Probalby: If the swimming does not irritate the tendonitis, then it is likely fine to paricipate. Generally, a non-weight bearing exercise is ideal during rehab from ankle problems. However, if you feel sore after swimming, then you probably want to forgo until after you are pain free. Since you are experiencing your ankle giving out on you, you should see your doctor for further evaluation. ...Read more

Could be: Pain after trauma can be sprain, bruise, fracture. The canadian developed a system to try to pick what is broken vs sprain. If you can bear weight or hurt when you touch the back part of the distal fibula, they were most worried about a fracture and suggested an xray. ...Read more

I've had cast on ankle for 5 days for severe sprain. Still feels very swollen inside and throbs. Is this normal?

Yes: Yes, if you had a severe ankle sprain that it was bad enough to put in a cast, it may take even several weeks to fully resolve. Sometimes, swelling can worsen with an ankle injury before it gets better. Make sure you are keeping it elevated. If the cast feels tight, you may need to be evaluated. Sometimes we have to split or change a cast if the seelling gets severe, ...Read more

I rolled my ankle last night and think I have sprained it. I have pain in my ankle as well as down the inside of my foot. Do I need crutches?

I rolled my ankle last night and think I have sprained it. I have pain in my ankle as well as down the inside of my foot. Do I need crutches?

Likely.: Do not bear weight it if hurts. If the pain and/or swelling is severe, get checked, to be sure you don;t have a fracture. Pain with weight bearing means you are adding to the damage and preventing healing. Use crutches until you can bear weight without pain. An ace bandage can give some support. If you are no better in a few days, get checked. There are other ankle supports that help. See doc ...Read more
