Can you see white blood cells in urine?

Can you see white blood cells in urine?

Yes and no: As single cells, the naked eye would not be able to see individual white blood cells. So if there is just a small amount you could not rely on just looking at urine and know with certainty. However, in large groups as pus, white blood cells and other materials can be seen in this way. So large amounts would be more obvious, just like looking at pus around a wound. ...Read more

On my lab work, one test said "HEMOGLOBIN UR: 2+". Can you tell me what this indicates? I was on last day of period but didn't see blood in urine cup.

Probably OK: Positive urine dip stik for Hemoglobin is common. Particularly if you were stillon your period. This also occurs with NSAIDS and blood thinners being most common. Not to overlook serious problems, I will repeat the test on 2-3 weeks and be guided by results. In your case at 45 repeat urinalysis in 2-3 weeks is best advice. If the positive test persists, more complete evaluation is next. ...Read more

See answer below: Visible blood in the urine (aka gross hematuria) related to a UTI (aka hemorrhagic cystitis) is most often accompanied with other bladder symptoms (urinary urgency, frequency, burning and discomfort) and usually subsides within 24-72 hours IF on the correct antibiotic. Painless hematuria is a red flag and is often related to other causes and deserves further evaluation, even if it is self-limiting ...Read more

My symptoms have went away the urge to pee after i already peed and the left side pain went away and no more blood in urine do I still need to see doc?

Would be wise: The urine blood is worrisome. It may suggest more than just a UTI that resolved. Need urinalysis and kidney ultrasound. Small chances of kidney stones and tumors need to be ruled out. ...Read more
