A: A lump under your arm pit definitely warrants investigation. It could be something as simple as a cyst (fluid filled lesion), swollen lymph node, abscess (infection) or a lipoma (fat filled lesion). More concerning would be a tumor that could possibly be malignant (cancerous). The bottom line is to have an examination by a medical professional.
Best of luck. ...Read more

Can neck strain during exercise cause lhermitte's sign (sit ups, push ups, stair climbing).Began w/pulled muscle in lower back&spread to neck.

Really shouldn't: Understand that lhermitte's sign is a shock-like sensation that radiates to arms and legs during a flexion or forced flexion maneuver of the neck. Classically, this was used to identify ms. It is presently used to commonly identify symptomatic spinal cord compression. So, if you are not having the arm/leg symptoms, this is not lhermitte's sign. If yes, you should consider evaluation by spine md. ...Read more

I pulled all my stomach muscles lifting a heavy pan, I can't stand up straight. What can I do?

Stomach strain: Start with ice to the pulled muscle and take something over the counter for pain like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen (unless you have another health reason not to take the types of meds). I would also feel the abdominal wall and make sure there is not a hernia. If it is a really painful hernia, this should be evaluated by a physician today. ...Read more

Would doing 200 push ups 4 days a week build a chest. And does jumping jacks and mountain climbers help the lower abdominal.?

Exercising: Yes, your muscles will develop if you do this many push ups and other exercises. You probably noticed that weight lifters need to do more than push ups to get very strong- they lift heavy weights and look at their nutrition closely.

If you are as dedicated as you say, you will probably notice some changes in a couple weeks.

Good luck ...Read more

Other than doing a plank, push ups and sometimes lower abdominal exercises, what else can I do to get a flatter belly? Any tips?

Cardio Mix: While sit-ups can increase abdominal muscle mass they will only minimially help you loose stomach fat, if any. To loose adipose tissue work on a cardio mix (walking, running, biking, swimming, circuit training, etc - mix it up). Keep in mind that you can not target one specific area of the body to loose weight, and over time the adipose will decrease in many areas of your body (stomach included). ...Read more

Hernia: Many potential causes, but it is certainly possible that in the same injury in which you "pulled a muscle" in your back that you have also developed a hernia. Hernias do not always have to be painful. I would not hesitate to be seen, particularly if you develop abdominal pain or vomiting. ...Read more

Have U been checked?: Your "stomach pain" can be caused by lots of things & may indeed originate outside the GI tract. Further evaluation is in order before anyone can answer "what to do." Your doctor will want to re-examine you as well as know the quality, timing, duration, exact location, associations (eating, position, activity, stooling, urinating) of your pain to better direct the next appropriate testing. ...Read more
