It depends: It takes weeks to months to improve symptoms related to hypothyroidism, but it also depends on how low your thyroid level was before starting treatment, and what symptoms are related to the thyroid as opposed to other reasons. I have seen many people with marginally abnormal TSH levels, who did not note improvement in symptoms despite normalizing their levels with thyroid hormone. ...Read more

Once daily: Be consistent re: dose time, generally 1/2 hr before or 2 hr after a meal ( empty stomach), avoid taking with high dose vit/min supplement. Check levels in about 3 weeks. Watch for increased sweats, weight loss, shortness of breath, nervousness, palpitations, insomnia, frequentbm, hair thinning, tremor, "heebie-jeebies"- symptoms of xs levels of thyroid hormone (native or store-bought). Armour is a physiological mix of T3 (liothyronine) and T4 in the form of an extract of pig thyroid gland. Levothyroxin is a synthetic T4. It is true that some patients do feel better on Armour.
