I have persistent Lh surge on OPK for 8 days.i had ovulation pain 4 days ago.We are trying to get pregnant.can it be due to HCG and Lh similar?

They are similar: but I think you're asking why is your LH still positive on OPK. It stays positive for many days, that doesn't mean you're still about to ovulate. Ovulation typically occurs 24 to 36 hours after the first LH positive on OPK. positive OPK is not an early indicator of pregnancy. I hope I'm answering your question. ...Read more

What happens to LH surge during ovulation? Would the LH detector still give a positive read if u are ovulating?

Yes it could: An lh surge is triggered when estrogen production from a growing follicle reaches a certain level. Some lh surges go up and down in 1 day. Others can be positive for 3-4 days. Ovulation usually occurs 24-36 hours after the peak so it is possible that the lh surge could still be positive during or after ovulation. Ovulation is triggered by the lh surge but the lh surge is not changed by ovulation. ...Read more

"I have taken Menopur this past cycle with timed intercourse. Do I have to have a hCG injection to release eggs or will they release on their own?

"I have taken Menopur this past cycle with timed intercourse. Do I have to have a hCG injection to release eggs or will they release on their own?

Need hCG: You usually need the hCG to trigger ovulation with hMG (Menopur) because the estradiol (E2) level gets high enough that an LH surge is not possible. To have a spontaneous ovulation your E2 needs to be in a range not-too-low and not-too-high, usually with hMG it goes too high. ...Read more

I know LH surge that lasts many days, can be a symptom of pcos. Blood tests say i'm ovulating, yet my LH surge lasts till my period, why?

I know LH surge that lasts many days, can be a symptom of pcos. Blood tests say i'm ovulating, yet my LH surge lasts till my period, why?

No need to repeat: You stop doing ovulation kits after it turns positive because it will stay positive for awhile. If you are having regular periods and your ovulation tests show you are ovulating there is simply no value or utility in following a lh surge. If you are not ovulating or not having regular periods then scheduling a visit with an obgyn is certainly reasonable. ...Read more

Can I have LH surger and not ovulate / rapture?

Can I have LH surger and not ovulate / rapture?

Good question!: Some years back this was called a Luteinized Enraptured Follicle (LUF) and was estimated to happen about 1 in 20 cycles. Very little if any research has been done on this recently (to my knowledge), so the answer is "yes, but it's not very common." Good wishes. ...Read more

Would FSH or LH levels of 10 when tested prior to ovulation mean I have poor or low egg quality? I was tested on cycle day 20. I have a 33 day cycle

Would FSH or LH levels of 10 when tested prior to ovulation mean I have poor or low egg quality? I was tested on cycle day 20. I have a 33 day cycle

Not at all: Levels of 10 +/- are never strictly abnormal, and there is no standard interpretation for levels drawn anytime other than CD 3 (the CD 10 level in a Clomid (clomiphene) challenge is an exception.) These levels do not mean anything bad and probably do not mean anything at all. Ask your doctor "why" he/she needed these tests on CD 20, and good wishes. ...Read more

I have pcos my afc is 20- 22 .... Fsh, LH normal ....How can I get pregnant ....Do i need ovulation induction or ovarian stimulation ?

PCOS and ovulation: If you had pcos and are not ovulating regularly, you may take Clomid (clomiphene) or Femara to get you to ovulate consistently. If the oral medications aren't successful, you may need to consider injectable medications or ivf as an alternative. Depending on other parameters, you may also benefit from using metformin or some measure to reduce your Insulin levels. This may help with keeping the pregnancy. ...Read more
