Can you have the flu, without any cold, cough, or congestion symptoms? I have chills, fever, listlessness, no energy. It started with vomiting, but none since.

The: The most common symptoms of flu according to the center for disease control are: -fever (usually high) -headache -nausea, vomiting or diarrhea -fatigue -sore throat -runny nose or congestion -cough -body aches unfortunately, it is difficult to diagnose the flu based on symptoms alone since many other illnesses can cause similar symptoms. Been taking fever reducer/pain relievers for 48 hours, bc I think I have the flu. Still have a 99.5F fever. What can I take to feel better?

Rest and fluids: Likely this is just a minor case of the flu or just a cold. A true fever in the medical sense is when you hit 101.3 F or 38.5 C. For a minor temperature of 99.5 you can take a Tylenol (acetaminophen) if you wanted. You just need rest and fluids (soups). If the fever continues to rise even on Tylenol (acetaminophen) or if you start having severe sweats, coughing with phlegm. Then you should get checked out by your doctor.

What's up with my symptoms? I'm very cold but don't have the flu or a fever. Body temp of 95.18°f, bloodpressure 112/88, postprandial bg 95. Thoughts?

What's up with my symptoms? I'm very cold but don't have the flu or a fever. Body temp of 95.18°f, bloodpressure 112/88, postprandial bg 95. Thoughts?

Get warm: Your vitals are stable, as is your bg. Depending on what you ate, the post prandial bg may be even a little on the low side. I would try a different thermometer as that temp is very low and if persists you would be at risk for hypothermia. If it is indeed your true core body temp. Than get into a warm bath to bring your temperature up and get checked by a dr. Best wishes.

I got my flu shot this year, but I've gotten sick and my symptoms include muscle aches and fever. Is it possible I have the flu?

Yes: Yes, it is possible. Ultimately the purpose for the flu shot is not to prevent the flu, rather it is to prevent you from dying from the flu or flu related illnesses. That said, the flu shot does reduce risk of getting the flu and often makes the bout less severe if you do get it.
