A is for arms: inability to move arms or one arm being stronger than the other. S is for speech: can your loved one repeat a simple sentence or is their speech slurred? YES!!: He may have sleep apnea, severe reflux or CHF. Pts that cough ,wheeze, or wake up frequently is a serious problem. No.: Stroke does not have warning signs except for transient neurologic symptoms which are only recognized as transient in retrospect. Sleeping is not a warning sign nor is it associated with elevated inr. You should have had a frank discussion with your provider about the risks and benefits of Coumadin (warfarin) therapy using the chadsvasc and possibly hasbled scoring systems. ...Read more

Yes: I would not use either drug with a patient who has had a stroke, as the adverse effect profile might present in a far more intense fashion, especially suicide risks with Prosac. I personally feel uncomfortable with the approach, and recommend a visit to a geriatrician or psychiatrist to get this straightened out. ...Read more
