Can You Have A Kidney Stone Flat Shape
I passed a kidney stone one week ago and psin meds constipated me. Now I have flat to penicil thin stool and excess mucus. What can cause this?
Constipation: This may very well be related to your bowel recovering from a bout of drug (likely opioid) induced constipation. Sometimes, when motility is acute affected it can take time for things to normalize. You may want sure your fiber intake is good, along with you staying hydrated, and active (activity helps constipation). If things fail to resolve in the next several days to week seek in person help.
The kidneys are paired organs that lie on either side of the vertebral column. Part of their critical functions include the excretion of urine and removal of nitrogenous wastes products from the blood. They regulate acid-base, electrolyte, fluid balance and blood pressure. Through hormonal signals, the kidneys control the ...Read more
My CT scan shows oval shaped 10.9 mm vs 4.5 mm kidney stone in the upper ureter, with a good orientation. What chances of passing?
Unlikely: 11mm stone is very unlikely to pass on its own. Hopefully you are under the care of a urologist. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Depends: Kidney stones can form anywhere in the urinary outflow tract. If in the pelvis of the kidney, the collection point for urine production, they can get quite large prior to any symptom occurring. Those in the ureter are usually small but big enough to partially obstruct the urine flow. These create major pain as the ureter tries to get rid of it. Stones can also form in the bladder.See 1 more doctor answer
No: This is not a problem.Get a more detailed answer ›
Yes: Yes. I know of no validated data that shows that any type of body massage is either contraindicated, unsafe, or dislodges/promotes passage of a kidney stone into the ureter potentially causing pain and/or obstruction. The same answer (no restrictions) would basically apply to physical and sport activities as well. Kidney stones actually more common with a sedentary lifestyle.
What causes kidney stones, and is it normal to bleed heavier on your period if you have a kidney stone?
X-ray or CT scan: Stones are of different chemical composition. Whether a stone can be seen on a plain x-ray of the abdomen depends on the size of the stone as well as it's composition. A ct scan without IV contrast is more sensitive for smaller or less dense stones. Even a large stone in the kidney that has not moved into the tube that drains the kidney (known as the ureter) usually does not cause pain.See 1 more doctor answer
If you have a kidney stone blocking your tube and tests show only 10% funtion do you have to have your kidney removed or can it be saved?
Urologist: If the obstruction is successfully removed that kidney's function should improve significantly unless the damage done is irreversible. Usually a kidney is not removed unless there is malignancy or extensive abscess formation from infection or the damage causes recurrent infection. Your urologist will guide you.See 2 more doctor answers
Yes it is: More important is to drink pleny of water ; consume as little salt as possible. Good luck.
Some, but tolerable: Post-procedure ureteral stent can be removed by patient or urologist if a thread for self-pulling is attached, or by urologist under local anesthesia through cystoscope if no thread is attached to stent. Attaching a thread or not depends on how long the stenting is needed; if 1-2 weeks or longer, use non-threaded stent so to avoid accidental pull..
Can you tell me how uncomforable is it to have a stent removed from after you have a kidney stone removed?
Here are some. ..: If the stent is intended to be removed in 1 wk, usually, I leave a thread connected to the stent so the patients can pull the stent out by themselves with tolerable pain/discomfort. If longer than one week, I leave no thread to stent and removed the stent through cystoscopy under local anesthesia as outpatient. Largely, most patients cope the care very well through adjusting expectation & pain..
No: A tinge of blood, perhaps. Weird-colored urine most often reflects something in the diet or especially medications -- some makers of overpriced vitamins spike them with stuff that changes the urine color so people will believe they're magic. I wouldn't wish a kidney stone on anyone and hope you'll get diagnosed / treated as required with a good result.
What happens if you have a kidney stone, have severe pain when urinating and bladder does not empty all the way?
Risk of kidney: Damage. Renal stones can result in damage to the kidney through obstruction to flow of urine and infections.
Solutes precipitate and combine to form stones formed of calcium oxalate usually around a nidus of uric acid. Other solutes that form stones are ca and mg phosphates, cystine, and uric acid staghorn calculi form in the presence of chronic urinary tract infections.
