Need more info: Is your breathing compromised in any fashion, are you short of breath, having the pain when you inhale deeply, do you have fever, have you been coughing, and so on? Usually no: Discuss additional inhalers with your doc, such as ipratropium and especially inhaled steroids.

Dosing more frequently does not help much but increases side effects.

URI: Sounds like a viral infection. Did your gp provide you with a nebulizer and albuterol for the coughing? We try not to recommend otc cough suppressants for the very young due to side effects. If his cough is due to drainage, you could try some saline drops to the nose and bulb suction. A warm heating pad to the chest could also help as could humidity. ...Read more

chest infection may mean bronchitis or pnumonia. What is of more concern is difficulty in breathing as you have clear mucus which may suggest the infection is getting better
