You : You can give tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort and fever, which is 100.4f. It's dosed based on weight. Generally, for 6-11 lbs or less than 4 months old, the dose is 1.25ml every 4 hours as needed for the 160mg/5ml formulation. Please verify the strength before giving the medicine to your grandson. It's best, however, if the child develops a fever, to speak to his doctor to make sure it's not something worrisome. ...Read more

My 2 month old weighs 14lbs 9oz what is the right amount of infant tylenol (acetaminophen) i can give him in ml?

Al little young: While infant tylenol (acetaminophen) is not recommended by the manufacturer until 2 years of age it is used and if so the dose in millilitres for the weight you have given is a total of 9 ml in divided doses over 24 hours. That is a very conservative dose so check with the child's pediatrician. Tylenol (acetaminophen) should always be based on weight and not age in children. ...Read more

I have a 2 month old son who is due for his first immunizations next week. Should I give him tylenol (acetaminophen) first?

No: The vaccines of today have improved greatly and cause much less reactions. There are also some articles suggesting that if you give tylenol (acetaminophen) before or at the time of the vaccination (particularly dpt) there is less of an immune response. Give tylenol (acetaminophen) after the shots only if he/she has a fever or soreness of the leg. ...Read more

Is it ok that i gave my 2 month old tylenol (acetaminophen) a couple hours after he had his shots? He doesn't have a fever but i suspect he's in pain.

You can, but . . .: You can certainly give your kiddo tylenol (acetaminophen) after his immunizations. The dose in 15 mg per kilogram of weight every 4 hours. The tylenol (acetaminophen) will certainly help with the pain, however we also know it will decrease the overall immune response to the immunization. What this means long term is not known, but does make me tell my patient not to use tylenol (acetaminophen) unless there is fever or obvious signs of pain. ...Read more
