Can You Get Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome From Taking Antibiotics As A Child
How how would heart rate get if I had Wolf-Parkinson-white syndrome? My heart rate is usually in the 70s-80s. Sometime 100+ during activity.
WPW heart rate: The heart rate may accelerate from 120-200 beats per minute, but can also be associated with atrial fibrillation which can be in the 300's and even degenerate into ventricular fibrillation. It can also be normal. The pre-excitation syndrome can be diagnosed by ECG. Please see your PMD. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
SVT, WPW, Afib: Svt or supraventricular tachycardia is a condition in which the upper chamber of the heart causes the heart to beat very fast. Wpw or wolf parkinson white syndrome is a condition where te heart has a propensity to abnormal electrical conduction that may predispose people to have svt, atrial fibrillation (where the upper chamber of the heart beats chaotically), or other heart rhythm issues. ...Read more
If I have tachycardia does that mean I also have wolf Parkinson white syndrome? What's difference if not? What does that mean if so?
Not usually WPW: Tachycardia, or a rapid heart rate (more than 120 beats per minute in an adult) happens all the time to everybody in certain circumstances (running, fear, excitement, etc ). Some extreme forms of tachycardia are due to an electrical defect in the heart's conduction system & Wolf-Parkinson-White Syndrome is an uncommon form of it. An EKG can sometimes tell the cause of tachycardia, but not always ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
No: Wolff-parkinson-white (WPW) syndrome describes a condition where there are ECG abnormalities and a predisposition to a rapid heart rate known as supraventricular tachycardia (svt). In almost all patients, the heart function is normal. Very rarely a weak heart muscle is present in patients with WPW and they may have symptoms of heart failure. Even in this setting isolated leg swelling is not seen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
WPW: Yes. Wpw is the presence of ventricular pre-excitation due to an accessory pathway which can result in fast heart rhythms (i.e. Supra ventricular tachycardia). Risk stratification is important to determine the risk of sudden cardiac death. The main risk during these fast rhythms is usually syncope (fainting). Treatment involves ablation. I would speak with your cardiologist. ...Read more
Depends: Like so many things in life...depends. If you are having lots of palpitations, dizziness, or feelings that you might pass out then you should go see a cardiologist who is subspecialized in electrophysiology. He can review your workup, order additional tests if necessary, and possibly eliminate the problem via a procedure called radiofrequency ablation. If no symptoms, then you likely need nothing. ...Read more
Sometimes: A familial form of WPW syndrome has been reported as an autosomal dominant trait. 3.4% have a 1st degree relative with preexcitation syndrome. However, this claims are based on small studies. Two genetic studies of three families, found abnormalities in chromosome 7. Missense mutation were identified in the PRKAG2 gene which encodes the gamma -2 regulatory subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Heart problem: Wolff-parkinson-white syndrome is a disorder of electrical conduction of the heart. Patients with WPW can have rapid heart beat (tachycardia) and very rarely sudden cardiac death. The tachycardia can be treated by medications. The abnormal conduction is due to an extra electrical pathway (bypass tract) in the heart. There are techniques to destroy the extra pathway that will cure wpw. ...Read more
