If one is prone to cheek/lip biting, what is the possibility of contracting an std (herpes, hpv) through sharing a cigarette with an infected person?
Zero risk: Nobody ever catches any STDs by sharing cigarettes or other oral exposures. Even kissing is no risk, except for oral herpes due to HSV1 (which isn't considered an STD) -- and even this is uncommon. Sores in your mouth make no difference at all. They call them "sexually transmitted" for good reason. Choose partners wisely and have safe sex -- that's all you need to do to avoid all STDs! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

That's because although there's a finite theoretical risk everywhere on Earth... we in real-life don't worry about catching sexually transmitted diseases from soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, etc. To be safest in public bathrooms, one can rinse off after touching soap dispensers or faucet handles, dry hands with a paper towel, grab the door handle with the towel. ...Read more
No, but...: No is the real-life answer. That's because although there's a finite theoretical risk everywhere on Earth... we in real-life don't worry about catching sexually transmitted diseases from French fries, hash browns, baked potatoes, or other similar foods. Seems unlikely: I've suggested that gonorrhea (like other diseases) might be transmitted from an adult to a child in a hot tub -- gonorrhea and chlamydia can infect the eye in an unhalogenated swimming pool -- and it seems remotely possible that gonorrhea might travel on a fork. It would be hard to prove that this was all that happened, and nobody's going to conduct a formal experiment. Wonder why you ask. ...Read more
