As you can see, raccoons top the list of most common carrier, especially on the east coast. Probably not: If there is no open wound (i.e. it didn't puncture the skin) then it's unlikely that you would have contracted rabies. If the dog is a pet of yours or someone you know, you can find out if they're up to date on their shots. If not (but they are someone's pet), usually you just watch the dog for symptoms of rabies.
