Left and right inner cheeks filled with white painless bumps that resolved on its own. Dentist didn't know what it was. Could it have been hpv?

Hard to say: Hard to say without examination. More likely "linea alba" or white line which is dead tissue (like callus on hands/feet) from chewing or sucking inside of cheek between teeth where they meet. Could also be minor salivary ducts. Not likely HPV. Can have biopsy if they return, if you wish. See Oral Surgeon for that. Good Luck. ...Read more

Hpv (Definition)

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection. There are over 100 different types of HPV that causes warts in different areas of the body. HPV is incredibly common and almost all sexually active men and women get it during their lifetime. Most of the time HPV does not cause any symptoms or complications. However, A limited number of these HPV viruses are pathogenic and if not monitored carefully can be responsible for causing cervical and penile cancer. Some of these viruses have been ...Read more

Black round bump on right inside of cheek by bite line. Wasn't there on 2/10 @ dentist. There for 8 days. Keep biting it. I had HPV in 2005. Cancer?

Black round bump on right inside of cheek by bite line. Wasn't there on 2/10 @ dentist. There for 8 days. Keep biting it. I had HPV in 2005. Cancer?

Maybe: Black round bump could be a mucosal melanoma inside cheek, a hemangioma or even hematoma if it arise from a bite at that site. While HPV is frequently involved with oral lesions, they are for the most part squamous Ca's that are ulcerating and not nodular in development. If resolution doesn't occur will probably need bx. ...Read more

How can I tell that have HPV in the mouth before I visit a dentist? What signs can I check for?

How can I tell that have HPV in the mouth before I visit a dentist? What signs can I check for?

Here are some...: A growing cauliflower-like lesion may be a wart; if stationary in appearance and size, it may be just a normal tag. In my experience, layperson's eye is not keen enough to verify; at times, a lesion may elude the eyes of the experienced and require a biopsy for confirmation. So, let doctor take a look and ask her. Him as needed. ...Read more

Have high risk hpv (but not 16 or 18). What are the chances and the symptoms of oral cancer? Just graduated college--drank heavily. Dentist unhelpful

No worries: Only certain throat cancers, not oral cancer in general, is due to HPV; and those cancers are caused only by HPV16. So you definitely are not at risk from your current HPV infection. And despite all the media attention to oral cancer from HPV, it remains rare, far less common than other cancers like breast, lung, colon, even in people with oral HPV16 (which you probably don't have). No worries! ...Read more

Is there any way I can pass HPV to my 4 year old daughter? Just want to make sure she can't get it from me

Yes: It can be passed by any skin to skin contact. The data shows that 80% of us will have hpv during our life. The Gardasil trial showed that 37% of 9 year olds in the trial had already been exposed to hpv. Therefore, the answer is yes. It can be passed by any skin contact. ...Read more

Should you get the gardisil shot again for a second time being that it doesn't protect you from HPV for a lifetime?

Should you get the gardisil shot again for a second time being that it doesn't protect you from HPV for a lifetime?

Confusing question: This vaccine is given in a 3 shot series. At present we know that a single dose will produce limited and transient protection but research supports long term benefit if the series is completed. It has the potential for complete protection for life. How long the actual duration will be is hard to say until we have 25 or more years of use by enough people. ...Read more

Could I get HPV warts from my boyfriend who carried it 11 years ago? He hasn't had any symptoms at all or still? I have pain in organs in a.M

Possible but...: A hx of no recurrent wart after treatment is favorable but not a guaranty of not still being a hpv carrier because many hpv-infected men, like women, have no visible lesion. But at least, we can say he may have strong enough immune ability against hpv even maybe still a carrier. In fact, some 10-15% of the us adult population are positive hpv dna test, yet just some 1% have visible lesion. ...Read more

Protection: This vaccine helps protect you against strains of a virus known to cause cancer many years after exposure & a type of wart that can produce cauliflower like small to giant bumps on your genitals. It is only helpful if completed months before exposure to the germ, which is often passed during sex. The shot does not protect against other std's or other types of warts. ...Read more

Could I get HPV if my boyfriend and I are virgins?

Unlikely: If you are both certified virgins, the probability of you contracting hpv from him is very low. There are a percentage of people however who are "born" with hpv, after contracting it from their infected mothers. Please keep this in mind. My suggestion would be to get vaccinated against hpv before you have sex reducing your risk even further! ...Read more

Why can't I get a copy of my test results stating that I have HPV? My results. I'm 23 & to my knowledge I'm not supposed to have a HPV test until 30..

Should have result: If a test was done, you have a right to know the result, and in most (all?) states to have a copy of the lab report. (Perhaps it is possible you signed a consent for care that states a different policy, but this seems unlikely.) It is true that HPV testing is generally not recommended at your age, but there's no law against it and many doctors and clinics do it commonly. ...Read more
