Can you get hiv from sharing razors?

Can you get hiv from sharing razors?

Very unlikely: Common sense says not to share razors, to prevent skin infections as well as blood borne infections like HIV and hepatitis B and C. However, it is a theoretical transmission mechanism that has never been reported as the actual source of somone's HIV infection. Don't share razors (except maybe your own mutually monogamous sex partner), but don't worry if it happens once or twice by accident. ...Read more

Hiv (Definition)

Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more

If someone used my razor a day earlier could I get HIV if I cut myself on accident?

If someone used my razor a day earlier could I get HIV if I cut myself on accident?

Here are some...: The mode of possible HIV transmission under your described scenario, which had been doubtfully tested and documented, is yet to be determined since body fluid interaction is the chief route of HIV spreading. So, the odd to catch HIV under your concern should be next to zero if not 100%. Nonetheless, if you belongs to one of its high-risk groups like multiple partners, illicit drug user, bisexual ...Read more

Can I get hiv from using a razor? I didn't bleed but got a red mark on skin. I bought a new bag of razors and forgot to check if they were open or no

Can I get hiv from using a razor? I didn't bleed but got a red mark on skin. I bought a new bag of razors and forgot to check if they were open or no

Unlikely.: Without transfer through blood, it would be very difficult to acquire HIV in this manner, especially with presumably new razors. Furthermore, even theoretically it someone would have used the razors before you, you would have to use it right afterwards so that any blood on the razor would still be at body temperature. So I'd think it would be very unusual to acquire HIV in the manner you mentioned ...Read more

Can you get hep c or HIV from using a bar of soap that was in a basin with used razors only option I had after going to the toilet?

No: The HIV and hep c viruses are spread by blood to blood contact such as an IV drug abuser sharing a needle with another and by unprotected sexual contact. They cannot be spread by using a dirty bar of soap to wash your hands. ...Read more

URGENT. I went to a barber for haircut. He used a razor to thin my hair, he cut me in process blood. He used the same one to other person 5 mins before me. Am I at risk of hiv? Do I need to get PEP? Help

Stop worrying: If we could get HIV at the barber's, we'd see it actually happening. It doesn't. This has been looked at and nobody's shown transmission. Ask your barber how the razor is cleaned between customers. The HIV virus is so wimpy that even a hot, fresh blood-laden needle only transmits 1 time in 300. Further, a razor that cuts a person usually does not get much blood on it in the first place. ...Read more

Could I get HIV if blade is new but razor (holder) is old and I got a cut on my throat?

Unrealistic fear: Nobody can give the exact timing for HIV death, but you can rest assured every cell is dead and HIV seems to die with them. You've got to stop worrying about this stuff, or imaging that infectious blood is all over everything. If you need help overcoming these fears -- and it's nothing to be ashamed of -- talk with your physician. ...Read more

I accidentally shared a shaving razor with my family memeber. Can I get HIV/AIDS? Also, I have a lump like sore on my vagina. Please help

Glad to reassure you: Even if your family member is HIV-positive, the illness has never been transmitted this way. If they're not, you can't acquire it from them by any means whatever. The sore / lump should be seen if it's quite painful or stays for 2 weeks or more. ...Read more

Could I have HIV from eletric razors?

Could I have HIV from eletric razors?

HIGHLY Unlikely.: Hiv is spread by directly sharing infected body fluids such as semen and blood. This most commonly happens during sexual intercourse or when sharing needles during injection drug use. Any potential risk of spreading HIV by using an elecric razor is so small as to be impossible to estimate (essentially no risk). If you have concerns, then do not share the razor, as it may put your mind at ease. ...Read more

Can HIV be transmitted through razor blade?

Very unlikely: This would be highly unusual. Someone with HIV would have had to have recently used the razor and cut himself. Then, with blood on the blade, you would have to use it and cut yourself. It's unlikely that this has ever happened. Still, we recommend against sharing razors. ...Read more

Nucleic acid test: The circumstance you described is low risk. You may get a HIV nucleic acid test about 6 months after the incident. If that test result is negative, that would be conclusive of lack of HIV>

Would one catch hiv/aids from a razor blade cut?

Would one catch hiv/aids from a razor blade cut?

Yes and no: Keep in mind that to infect someone there 1-has to be HIV virus, 2-enough virus to transmit infection and 3-have an entry into another human. So. Having said this. Technically speaking yes its possible. Has there been documented cases. Not to my knowledge. Other viruses like hep c is far more likely to be spread like that. Remember the HIV virus dies rather quickally outside the bloodstream. ...Read more

Hi doc I want to know my sister son is hiv & they used same razor blade with my son, is my son hiv he used it 2second after him?

At barbar shop I got a slight cut on my neck. I am not sure he changed razor blade or not! Almost after 15 min I got cut! Chances of HIV?

Zero risk: Not a single case of HIV transmitted in the barber shop has ever been documented. Even hepatitis B which is far more transmissible on needle-sticks doesn't seem to get transmitted like this. Plus, any barber in his right mind will clean razors -- business would vanish if someone noticed he didn't. ...Read more

My son just cut himself accidentally by the razor blade with fresh blood on it. How chance he gets hiv if that blades used for hiv positive?

Very low risk: People shouldn't share razors, and if had been used very recently and fresh, wet blood really was visible on the blade, there might be a risk. But this is a theoretical risk that probably has never happened; I have never heard of anyone catching HIV by a razor. Presumably you know who used the razor. Is there a reason to believe s/he might have HIV? If so, immediately get your son to his doctor. ...Read more

I went to a barber for shaving. He used a razor, but somehow I forgot to check whether he did change the blade or not. Can I be HIV infected?

Barber: In general they do. In fact often they get a new razor and apply high heat to it in front of you (which is reassuring), which is likely to kill all the germs. However, I would make sure that that is done in the future. If the razor was used on a person with HIV before you of course there is a risk of getting the infection ...Read more

Relax: I'd be more worried about tetanus. You're not going to get HIV this way. I hope you also realize that you can't go on with these kinds of thoughts. They'll cripple you. Life's hard enough without seeing horrible danger everywhere. The cure is to talk with someone wise and good about feelings -- especially about sexuality, safety, HIV, what it means to be clean, and whatever else. Be brave. ...Read more

Hiv virus stay how long in sharp instrument e.G razor blade?

Fragile virus: This virus will die very quickly out of the body. On the other hand, if you are using a sharp implement previously used by somebody with HIV disease (which is not smart), and it has fresh blood on it, this can well transmit HIV if you then cut yourself. This entire scenario is quite improbable. If you get HIV it is from sex or exchange of intimate body fluids like blood through shared needles. ...Read more

I was getting a hair cut and on the back of my head under my hair I got a cut from the razor. I doubt the Barber sanitized the razor. Any risks? HIV?

Very unlikely: 1st the razor has to be contaminated with blood from someone with HIV just before it was used on you. Even then the risk is very low. If your barber does not clean his razor with antiseptic (even just an alcohol spray) between use, you should find another barber or make sure that he does before you let him cut your hair. If you are very bothered, get a blood test done. ...Read more

I had a straight blade shave at the barbershop. I had bleeding spots on chin and bloody razor burns. Have I been exposed to HIV or some disease?

It depends: If the blade was new and never used on anyone else, you should be fine. If the blade was used on anyone else, then you might have been exposed to something. A doctor could check your blood for infection if you are worried. ...Read more
