No: There really is no evidence that nitrates will improve the quality of an erection. In fact, nitroglycerine can cause venodilation and may adversely affect the strength of an erection.

Not usually: Nitrates are vasodilators but are usually weak BP lowering agents (not to mention the headaches) and would only be used in pts with angina or heart failure pts. They are also used in pts with coronary vasospasm pts. If pts have one of theses conditions and BP is not optimal the dr may increase your dosage in hopes of treating both conditions.
Dilation of vessels: Nitroglycerin is only used in emergency situations, it works by causing dilation of blood vessels, which will then help to lower blood pressure. This also may cause a patient to get a headache as Nitroglycerin causes widespread dilation of blood vessels including blood vessels in the brain.See 1 more doctor answer

How to heal anal fissure? Was prescribed nitroglycerin? How does one get an anal fissure? Tense anal muscles. How to eliminate the source so can heal
Anal fissure: The physiology of a chronic fissure is this: the internal sphincter muscle is an involuntary sphincter. It relaxes when the rectum is distended secondary to a bowel movement. Once the stool comes down and hits the fissure. The base of the fissure is the internal sphincter muscle. It spasms, funnelling the anal canal putting pressure anteriorly and posteriorly. The result. Pain and chronic fissure.
Heart pain all the way through to my back. The pain gets caught at our local hospital, but settles before I get proper. I am on nitrostat (nitroglycerin).?
Need and evaluation: This should be fully evaluated by a cardiovascular medicine specialist. Concern, in addition to coronary disease would be for significant aortic pathology. Hence would recommend eval for both issues asap.
