Not been proven: Herpes is a virus infection, so can be transmitted by contact with another person who has a herpes infection or who carries the virus. Herpes simplex 1 and 2 are the common oral and/or genital herpes infections that people call "herpes". (herpes zoster is shingles, caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox.) contradicting information for lysine and arginine is all over the internet. ...Read more

If I was diagnosed with herpes on my forehead only. And it has not spread anywhere else can I get genital herpes?

Two types of herpes: HSV-1 is the type that usually occurs on the mouth or lips -perhaps you were kissed on your head? which would explain the somewhat unusual presentation of the infection. Genital herpes is HSV-2, a different virus, and is acquired sexually. Although there is some (minimal) cross-protection, the best thing to do is practice safe sex. That's barrier protection in this case! Herpes spreads by contact. ...Read more

Easy but...: Oral herpes is easy to catch, because many adults have it, but it presumably requires getting some saliva or kissing areas with sores. Nobody really knows what happens if a person just kisses "other" facial areas of a herpes patient. Oral herpes is considered a normal, universal infection in humans because so many people have it. A blood test can tell if one has herpes even if he never gets sores. ...Read more

Can you get oral herpes from someone who u don't kiss but she gives u head but doesn't have any open sores or cold sores and I had no cuts on my d?

Possible but unlikel: Hi Roy. It's possible for someone to shed the herpes virus and be asymptomatic. People with oral herpes may secrete the virus 2% to 9% of the time when they are not having sores. That being said, if they are asymptomatic and secreting the virus, the amount of virus being shed is much less. You can be tested for infection. I would recommend knowing your sex partner And both of you testing for STD ...Read more

Be very careful!: Herpes can be very dangerous in newborns up to age 1 month. HSV is transmitted by direct contact with infected sores or tissues. No kissing her until healed, and frequently wash hands or use alcohol gel (like PurelĀ®), especially after touching your face. "Head in close proximity" probably isn't a risk. You might take anti-HSV Rx (e.g. valacyclovir). Discuss all this with the baby's pediatrcian ...Read more
