The herpes virus is spread from by direct contact with the virus. This would be via any direct contact with a herpetic lesion, intimate contact with actively infected person, sharing drinking glass, lipstick, cigarette with a person with an active herpes ulcer on the mouth. Cigarette, lipstick, etc. Spreading of the virus through inanimate objects such as towels or bed sheets is highly unlikely since the herpes virus can not live outside the body for very long. As far as razors are concerned, you should never share a razor with anyone due to the fact that blood may be present which presents many other risks.
