Can You Get Herpes From Chapstick
How likely am i to get herpes from a friends that i let use my chapstick && she smoked off me too ? She has type 1&2

I used my chapstick yesterday & woke up with a coldsore this morning.I just realized my toddler got a hold of my chapstick & ate/possibly put it on. Could she catch herpes this way? I am always very careful and never share anything or kiss on the lips, no
It is possible: but less likely. Your toddler is more likely to contract the coldsore virus when you kiss her (even if it is not on the lips). The HSV-1 virus is spread by direct contact: most often lip to lip or lip to skin, but it can live a short amount of time in the saliva on utensils, toothbrushes, lip balm etc. You can be infective before the outbreak, but most infective when there are blisters visible. ...Read more

Medicine or time: It might be a cold sore (herpes simplex). They usually go way by themselves and taking some Ibuprofen (motrin) can help the pain. Doctor can prescribe acyclovir, valacyclovir or Famciclovir to help it go faster if treated early. Medicine only needed if you have other medical problems. ...Read more
Wait: You could spread it , leave color change or spread it. If you are prone to herpesi would consider antivirals such as zovirax orally prior to waxing and if herpes attacks are frequent and uncomfortable even continuos prophylactic antivirals as preventive. It easier to delay waxing than to treat deep discoloration or even scarring which may result. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
