Time will heal: It is true that this is caused by herpes simplex virus. Treatment is largely for comfort, and a product like orabase can be used, which uses a covering with a topical anesthetic. Not necessarily: We believe Bell's palsy is secondary to herpes simplex, but this virus is already present in most human bodies in the dorsal root ganglion.
