Canker sores are not viral, and they are not infectious - they are similar to other immune type reactions, such as dermatitis, etc, and are frequently related to stress (local or systemic). No solid answer: Since you are "prone" towards canker sores the best thing you can try to do is ease their pain. You can take Acyclovir regularly to help but it does require a prescription. Lysine might help and you can get that at a health food store. Try to reduce your stress, and if you are a smoker...Quit. See if there are any other habits you have.
