Can You Get Bv In Your Mouth
NO BV in the mouth: Bacterial vaginosis is a condition where the vagina is colonized with a collection of bacteria that can cause symptoms (increased discharge, odor are primary). The mouth also has bacteria and if symptoms similar to BV appear in the mouth, poor hygiene is likely. Brush the teeth and use mouthwash. ...Read more

If a man has oral sex with a female that has BV but didn't kno it, can that bacteria survive in his mouth. Can he reinfect her if his mouth has the bv?
Probably not: Bv is an overgrowth of lactobacillus that lives in the vagina normally. It causes a discharge with odor (but no itching). It is unlikely that the ph difference in the man's mouth along with the saliva would allow the bacteria to survive, much less be transferred back. The gal can be treated with either a vaginal cream or oral medication, and that should solve the problem. ...Read more

I took bacterial vaginosis treatment by mouth two weeks ago, but I got oral thrush from it, and I think my BV has come back after having sex?!
Recurrent BV: Recurrent BV is a common problem, and unfortunately the most effective treatments (usually metronidazole by mouth) can trigger yeast infections. BV isn't usually an STD in the usual sex, except in lesbian partners. Still, even with male partners, it's a good idea to either avoid sex or use condoms consistently (even with regular partners) for several weeks. For expert advice see an NHS GUM clinic. ...Read more

Imbalance: All healthy women have a mix of bacteria & some yeast in the vagina. An imbalance in the vagina, such as change in ph, blood flow, amount of bacteria (these things can be caused by stress, change in hormones, antibiotic use, change in weather, diet, or new sexual partner), then too much of 1 type of bacteria known as "gardnerella" grows. This can cause odor and discharge. It is not an std. ...Read more
Can having a Bacterial Vaginosis cause my bf to have red pin lie bumps on the head of his penis after intercourse?
Not likely: While men can act as carriers for the various bacteria involved in BV, they are not known to cause an infection in the male. But other vaginal infections and STD's can, including herpes, which can cause red bumps that later blister and ulcerate. Your boyfriend should talk to his doctor if the bumps persist. ...Read more
I was on flagyl for a bacterial vaginosis infection 2 weeks ago. Then given diflucan (fluconazole) for a yeast infection. Now I have a white tongue. Help!
Coated tongue: White coated tongue is common with many things, including minor viral infections, changes in nutrition, and various antibiotics. That's probably the cause and it should clear up on its own within a few days. It's harmless, nothing to worry about. But discuss with your doctor if you remain concerned. ...Read more

Antibiotics doesn't work for my issue with bv. Is there another option to get rid of it for good? Is there really a cure?
Bv can be caused by several things. Try this under the guidance of a physician. Be abstinent. Limit the number of sex partners after treatment. Do not douche.
Use all of the medicine prescribed for treatment of bv, even if the signs and symptoms go away. It seems you have tried the metronidazole. Perhaps have your physician switch to Clindamycin and give that a try. Eat as healthy as possible. ...Read more

I think I may have a BV (hopefully nothing else) but I also had unprotected sex on 7/24 and 7/27. can I still get pregnant, last cycle was 7/15?
Everytime my boyfriend gives me oral sex I get BV. We never use a dental dam or any protection when I receive oral from him. Is this causing my BV?
Maybe: Since the BV is occurring every time that oral sex is done to you, then it is likely that his oral bacteria are invading the vaginal space and changing the normal vaginal flora. (content). If you are using douches or harsh soaps in the area stop them now. Consider the use of Listerine mouthwash by him prior to engaging in oral sex. The mouth contains far more disease type bacteria than the vagina. ...Read more
Kind of gross, inserted Acidophilus in Vag to help BV. It helped but the tab didn't dissolve all the way there's chunks. How do I get it all out!!
BV treatment: This treatment won't hurt and I wouldn't worry about the "chunks". But it won't help in the long run. Acidophilus and dairy products have no effect on bacterial vaginosis -- don't believe anything like that you are told or find on line. See a doctor to confirm the diagnosis, have testing for other STDs (very common with BV, especially at your age) and get an appropriate antibiotic prescription. ...Read more

Persistent BV...: ...or recurrence are quite common, very frustrating. Consistent condom use for a few weeks sometimes helps. BV is not necessarily an STD, but sex contributes.
