Lung nodule didn't grow for 6 months and now 15% first 2months 10 the next and now 5%.Should it be operated on now or is it safe to wait 3months?

Can a stable over 4 yrs lung nodule at 5mm grow to 1.6 mm in 12 months or be effected by a dental injected sedative the day before CT scan ?

Can a stable over 4 yrs lung nodule at 5mm grow to 1.6 mm in 12 months or be effected by a dental injected sedative the day before CT scan ?

Lung Nodule: An injected dental sedative has no effect on a lung tumor. A stable nodule may be a tumor, or it could be a scar from a previous localized infection. Most malignant tumors will grow considerably in 4 years; doubling in size in 12 months, however, raises the question that it is either a tumor in a growth phase or a granuloma or other form of chronic infectious process that should be followed up. ...Read more

Benign possibilities: There are many benign causes of a solitary pulmonary nodule. However, with a smoking history, you probably ought to have it biopsied, if possible, or even removed. This is to be certain that this isn't due to an early malignancy whose removal would likely be curative. Kudos to you for smoking cessation; keep up the good work. Good luck! see a cardiothoracic surgeon for evaluation. ...Read more
