An infection: It sounds like you have a viral or bacterial infection. Get a throat culture to make sure you do not have strep throat which is usually the only reason that you may need antibiotics for this. Start w/ these : Tx generally start with a healthy diet, & regular exercise, both of which can help achieve & maintain ideal weight. If you use any tob products, then stopping all of it is very important. Start to read food labels. Choose more veggies. Avoid soda, all fast food. Limit juice. Choose fish (tuna/salmon) often. Many factors: Evaluation by a primary care & cardiologist, reduce weight - BMI < 28, eat right: low fat, low (bad) cholesterol, consider high quality fish oil, cessation of smoking, exercise (if you are healthy enough per your physician), reduce alcohol consumption, take prescribed medications as directed. Except for aspirin, most medication used to tx clogged arteries are prescription only.
