Counting: Counting calories and keeping a food journal can be two of the most effective ways to lose weight. Being accountable for what you put in your mouth by writing it down and being aware of calorie values will make you think about what you are eating. It is important to eat a good variety of foods, so as long as you count your calories, nothing necessarily has to be "off-limits". Get a kitchen scale and weigh your foods in order to know exactly how much you are eating and therefore how many calories. The healthiest diets involve whole grains, lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats, fish and moderate dairy. Sugars and added oils/butter should be used sparingly. You need to eat at least three meals a day, though some people will advocate more frequent, smaller meals. An exercise program with a lot of cardio (brisk walking every day is the best!) is also important for muscle tone, strength, and cardiovascular health. Good luck! ...Read more
My doc's ok with this. I am going on a 3 day fast to detoxy and lose weight. I am only drinking green tea and water. How can I have energy?
THIS IS DANGEROUS!!!: I specialize in detoxification and consider this hazardous. It might have been ok 50 years ago, but we are all now loaded with toxins. When you do this fast many toxins will be released & without supporting your liver with proper nutrients you may get really sick. You need more nutrients than green tea can provide. Consider using an organic greens/superfood powder for better results. See comment:. ...Read more

Unsweet tea = fluids: Tea, coffee and soda do qualify as fluids for your body, and it is recommended that adults drink at least 6-8 cups daily. Water is preferred, as it doesn't have chemicals like caffeine or sugars that require extra metabolism or extra calories. Fluid intake should be enough to relieve all thirst and to allow a person to urinate 4-5 times daily with urine that is very light yellow. ...Read more

Probably fine: Provided that you are otherwise in good medical health, drinking this amount of water and tea during your illness will be tolerable.
