Can You Drink Alcohol While Taking Pristiq
Hi There, I was just wondering if there are any serious side effects of taking only a few percocets while on pristiq 50mg, and also how dangerous drinking alcohol REALLY is on this anxiety medication. (I am not taking perc's while drinking alcohol though)
Suspicious: Not enough info. How many is "a few? " Should you be drinking alcohol which is a CNS depressant while taking an anti-depressant, Pristiq (desvenlafaxine)? ?: No medicine is 100% safe. In fact, tylenol (acetaminophen) is probably in the top 3 medicines causing severe health problems and hospitalizations. Z-paks are used for specific types of infection. An infection is far more dangerous than a Z-pak. So you use it when needed. You should not drink alcohol when taking any antibiotic, including a z-pak. ...Read more

Don't know, but...: Since there are no double-blind, randomized control trials to answer this question, can't tell you for sure. However, the question that I have is - since antibiotics are usually given only for a few days, if you don't feel like you can safely refrain from drinking alcohol for even that period, might you be struggling with an alcohol problem. Alcohol & antibiotic: If you are on antibiotics for an infection, that means your body needs help. Alcohol is actually a toxin- although we are not used to thinking of it that way. So I don't think it's a good idea really to be drinking when on antibiotics for something. That said, there aren't any major drug interactions to worry about. In small amounts: Paracetamol is another name for acetominophen, or tylenol (acetaminophen). If taken in amounts greater than 2 grams/day routinely, it can be toxic to the liver. Drinking alcohol heavily is toxic to the liver also, and results would be additive. You could drink a glass of wine with a meal, and safely take a dose of paracetamol the same day -- but do not use either in large quantities. ...Read more

Not a good idea: Nyquil itself contains about 20% alcohol, but more importantly excessive alcohol is bad for the immune system, and itself makes many cold symptoms (particularly nasal stuffiness) worse.
