Yes but: The safe amount varies among individuals and in general women cannot tolerate alcohol as well. Any amount of alcohol which causes any type of impairment is not good. Never recommended: It's not medically sound to ever take prescription medication and drink alcohol of any amount within 24 hrs. Of one another. You may destroy or alter the efficacy of the prescription drug or there could be interactions of a chemical nature. I would recommend giving your system a break from alcohol. Severe vomiting: Like trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, Metronidazole and alcohol can cause a Disulfiram -like reaction similar the drug, Antabuse (disulfiram) - resulting in violent vomiting. Doxycycline in itself, can cause severe nausea and vomiting. As a result, you will not likely keep you medication down - which ultimately restricts the effectiveness of the vomited antibiotic.
