Likely Yes: If you don't have any pain, and have not been prescribed any antibiotics, you can drink alcohol. Just make sure that you stay away from biting on that tooth until you get the permanent restoration (crown). If you are drinking alcohol after root canal treatment and are taking any pain meds you should NOT be drinking alcohol because it may accentuate the effects of the pain pills.
If dr had to drain or treat any bubble you may have had on the side of your gums it could sting.

Bad Idea: Ok to take the painkillers - take with at least 700ml water or other non-alcoholic beverage. Skip the alcohol or you might vomit and lose the effect of the meds. Preferably not: It is suggested to stay away from alcohol, mouth washes with high alcohol, and even antibiotic rinses like Chlorhexidine after gum surgery because it can affect healing.
