Not best, both slow: Blood clotting. Aspirin inhibits platelet activation; Xarelto inhibits clot formation. Both Rxed because of evidence/concern of forming clots inside blood vessels, not just at blood vessel breaks, thus bleeding is ↑ed because slows clotting at all locations. They do NOT thin blood; blood viscosity does not change. Etoh, a depressant, both ↑es chances for injury/bleeding & may change drug efficacy. ...Read more

What to do after onset of food poioning? The vomitting has stopped, the diahrea continues. Vomitting started with in 6 hours and the episode started about 20 hours ago. What should I eat, drink, not eat or not drink; medicine? How about asprin?
You: You may wish to start with clear liquids like broth, clear juices (not acidic) for the first 12 hours. If you start vomiting again with liquids or you are not keeping up with the fluid loss through your bowel, you may need to go to the emergency room for intravenous hydration. Do not recommend that you take Aspirin as if can be tough on the GI tract. If you are working hard to keep up with hydration but find yourself feeling dizzy, especially when getting up from lying down or sitting, feel faint, find that your resting pulse rate is acclerated well above a hundred; you may need to be seen. I would avoid dairy, meats and vegetables intially. Might wish to start bland - like toast or rice. ...Read more
It adds risks: Particularly of bleeding. The combination of Aspirin and alcohol can lead to gastrointestinal bleeding. If you are talking about a baby Aspirin a day for cardiac protection and having one beer, the risks are very low. However, if you are taking larger doses for arthritis and drink more than 1-2 beers, you do have risks of heartburn, reflux and even bleeding. ...Read more

Is blood thinner so::
Holy Basil is a wonderful herb with many benefits but has mild blood thinning effects so it is advised to be cautious if also taking blood thinners like aspirin and plagril. It is not known if this is clinically significant and I think it is unlikel to be an issue if you drink only 1 or 2 cups a day. See

So two of them together can create a bleeding ulcer and hence not recommended to be taken together. Aspirin does relieve the Headache of the hang over from alcohol but a safer medicine would be the use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) instead of aspirin. ...Read more

Diagnosed with reactive (chemical) gastritis 2 years ago via biopsy/EGD. Never use aspirin or rarely drink. What else can cause this?
Food: I am sorry to hear about your concern. Food and lifestyle can be a major player in the development of gastritis. I am not sure what your doctors meant by "chemical". This word is confusing and it make us think about an artificial substance but sometimes it means just the natural acid of our stomach. Learn about what foods stimulate extra acid production. You can also request a formal consult. ...Read more
