Because of my anxiety and panic attacks I haven't been able to live my life in over a year. I constantly feel out of it and like I'm about to die. ?

Panic attacks: often cause people to feel as if they're dying. People go to the ER fearing they're having a heart attack. Hope you're seeing a therapist and a good psychiatrist for management of the symptoms and coping tools. Medication can be of great benefit. Best thing to do in a PA is lie down and tell yourself you've had these before and it will end. Wait for the fight/flight reaction to pass. ...Read more

Consult a profession: Without professional guidance, and if you have never received treatment heretofore, self-help reading is about the most that you can do on your own, at home. But that will probably not be sufficient: you are advised to seek an assessment from a psychiatrist or psychologist trained to provide specific cognitive-behavioral techniques. There are helpful treatments that do not involve use of psychiatric medications such as cognitive behavioral therapy, deep breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation. However, with the described frequency and intensity of her panic attacks, she may need to consider taking medication.
