I Have Alot Of Mucus In My Stool. My Stool Is A Solid Rocky Shape Not Diarrhea. What Causes alot of Mucus to build up like that???
Mucus on stool: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies & probably a sigmoidoscopy should be considered, but a more extensive evaluation may be warranted. ...Read more
I took Praziquantel for Clonorchiasis, but I have not seen Clonorchis sinensis in my stool. Should I be able to see it, or do they die in your liver?
Too small to see: The eggs of the liver fluke are released into the stool. The eggs are approximately 20 microns in length & 15 microns in width, so not really detectable by visual examination of the stool. The good news is that the 3-times-daily-for-3-days regimen of praziquantel is more than 90% successful at curing a clonorchiasis infection. If there is any doubt, could verify by rechecking stool at some point. ...Read more

My daughter had X-ray dr said she has stool and gas build up in stomach waiting on ultra sound what could cause this?
Constipation: But the diagnosis of constipation is not made with X-ray or ultrasound. Often, these tests are associated with significant cost, and don't help aid in the diagnosis of what is causing abdominal pain. The most frequent cause of abdominal pain, other than constipation (or IBS), in children, is functional abdominal pain. ...Read more

Proven vs unproven: By definition, "alternative" is different than modern western medicine. Generally any drug, herb, treatment, or procedure that stands up to rigorous scientific scrutiny is included in modern medicine. The problem is that many alternative practices, herbs etc do not stand up to scientific scrutiny and cannot be shown to work. They therefore remain "alternative". Be careful and watch your wallet. ...Read more

Keep looking: With the symptoms that you have I would certainly keep looking. It sounds like pulmonary function tests are in order if you are having trouble breathing. Sometimes stomach pain can be from a pinched nerve in the back. That's something also that the neurologist could evaluate. ...Read more
