Can you contract HIV from being stuck by a ball point pen?

Can you contract HIV from being stuck by a ball point pen?

Possible, Unlikely: A vast majority of HIV transmissions occur via unprotected sexual relations & sharing needles. Hiv is transmitted by infected bodily fluid coming into contact w/open wounds. In theory a pen contaminated w/infected bodily fluids could transmit HIV if it contacted/created an open wound. This scenario would be very unlikely. Second, your skin is a very good barrier to bugs and viruses in general. Third, it is a bit offensive that you think this repairman has hiv. Shortly after being infected there may be an acute HIV syndrome like infectious mono, but again this is not specific and only leads doctors to suspect hiv. Get tested if in any way u may have exposure. ...Read more
