I am very afraid of getting the norovirus. Can it be transmitted by breathing it in, or more typically by touching a surface that has the virus on it?

More contact: Noro virus is quite virulent - 18 particles is all it takes. Usually direct contact - unless someone coughs in your face... The virus is spread by direct contact and from contaminated foods. See cdc site for more info: http://www. Cdc. Gov/features/norovirus/. Read more

Many ppl and dr say that norovirus is caught orally ex. Contamin. Hands touching mouth or face) is this true? Isn't it by breathing? I'm confused, help!

Viruses travel: Yes, what you've heard is generally true for norovirus - it's transmitted by contact with infectious material. In fact, only a very tiny amount is needed to infect someone else -which is why those cruise ships are always in trouble, because one person gets it - and the whole ship then gets infected from the small amounts of virus spread around. Different germs have different preferences for travel Read more

Hiatal hernia: That is a possibility. It is also possible that you already had a small hiatal hernia and that the vomiting has increased the size of the hernia and/or caused your stomach to slide up into your chest. It would be best to get evaluated by a gastroenterologist for an egd and ugi. Read more

Why do I have labored breathing problem after I eat and I couldn't pass gas for few hours and plus I got stomach virus?

Why do I have labored breathing problem after I eat and I couldn't pass gas for few hours and plus I got stomach virus?

Gastritis: Sounds like irritated stomach or gastritis. May even be gastroesophafeal reflux (gerd) and hiatus hernia. There are other possibilities that only a visit to a doctor can help figure out and diagnose. If you are not already doing it, try over the counter medications for acid, such as zantac, (ranitidine) pepcid, and Prilosec for a couple of weeks then visit a doctor. Read more

Typically: Typically you should be in the clear about 3 days after all her symptoms have resolved. The key to preventing spread of infection is good hygiene. This entails washing your hands often with warm water and soap, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, other things for the future that can be done to avoid food poisoning are: wash raw fruits and vegetables before consuming cook seafood thoroughly always disinfect surfaces with a mixture of detergent and chlorine bleach during and immediately after someone is sick never eat food prepared by someone who is sick for at least 3 days after their symptoms have resolved.
