Can You Be Allergiec To Visine Eye Allergy Drops
Visine allergy: There are several visine preparations containing different drugs, but most contain a topical decongestant (tetrahydrozoline) and preservative (benzalkonium chloride). True allergic reactions to either are rare, but the preservative can be irritating if you have a condition such as eczema. More likely, the topical decongestant can cause a rebound reaction with increased redness from overuse.
Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more
Zaritor: Kerotifen (zaditor) eye drops is an effective antihistamine available over-the-counter at $25 for a 5 ml vial. Control stinging by keeping vial in frig. Otherwise this drug is quite safe. Avoid problem animals as much as possible. Wash hands after petting them. There are many prescription drugs as well as immunotherapy if these measures don't work.See 1 more doctor answer
My eyes are really bloodshot and I think I have rebound redness. I was using visine allergy drops to get rid of the red in my eye now I'm redder. Help?
Just wait: This will go away, but DO NOT use the Visine drops to make it go away faster - that will only perpetuate the problem. If the redness is severe and you don't want to wait for it to resolve, your doctor or your ophthalmologist can prescribe a short course of steroid drops to help. See an allergist to help find better ways of controlling your eye symptoms than using the decongestant drops.
My eye started itching right after giving my bunny a bath. It was very red and irritated. I put in 2 drops of visine allergy drops about 1 hr ago and?
Allergy to rabbit: It appears to avoidance of further contact is the reasonable approach. Be sure to wash all of the clothing you wore while handling the rabbit. I presume the drops helped.
Eye lubricant: If you are certain it is from allergy and not an infection or trauma, then start with an over the counter (OTC) eye lubricant like Systane. If this works, fine. There are OTC anti allergic drops, quite inexpensive, in most pharmacies which should be tried next. If the condition is persistent, then see an ophthalmologist.
Suggest me a eye drop for allergies, and I do have lower pressure in my eyes which may lead to Glucomma?
High eye pressure?: Since all drops containing antihistamine and especially steroid would potentially elevate your eye pressure, consider trying one containing cromolyn. If not effective, then see an allergist.
My eyes r always red I have allergies. What can I do to clear them up. I have use eye drops and they make them redder. Help?
Red eyes: If an infection has been ruled out because of your red eyes see an allergist and get tested to find out what you are allergic to. Once tested you will be able to institute environmental control to help your conditionSee 2 more doctor answers
Inflamed right eye for over a month. Went to optomologist. Said it was allergies but drops don't work. Blephartis? Are there drops for that
Yes but. .: Allergic inflammation is common although it usually affects both eyes. You may have a different issue such as episcleritis. Blepharitis is a sort of dandruff of the lids and there is treatment for it (warm soaks, cleaning, topical ointments) but it does not usually cause redness of the eyes. You should return for another look or at least get a second opinion.
I've been using opatanol eye drops 1ml more than 2x a day. Can something happen to me? I have really bad allergies and that's the only thing tht help
Options..: Allergic conjunctivitis: apply cool compress and liberally use artificial tears throughout the day. Practice allergen avoidance measures based on sensitivities. Try over-the-counter ophthalmic antihistamine, one drop to each eye twice daily (Zaditor, Alaway). OTC intranasal steroid sprays can also be helpful. Prescription eye drops like Pataday and Patanol (olopatadine) are effective as well.
No: Neither the allergies nor the eyedrops will cause any change in your eye color.
Are perennial allergies can be healed without recurrence. Or can only be controlled. Have the best eye drops to cure fully?
Close but not quite: Avoidance is the best approach and allergy shots can provide long term benefits for many if they have received it for at minimum of 3-4 years. However allergy shots only work in about 80% of the people. Is this a cure? Not yet but comes pretty close.
My 3 year old son is constantly rubbing his eyes, but his eyes aren't red or tearing. Saline drops do not help. Could he have allergies?
Sure: Ocular itch is a classic side effect of allergies and nasal plugging. There are over the counter allergy eye drops but you really should see your doctor to discuss appropriate therapy before simply treating a three year-old on your own.See 1 more doctor answer
What should I do if I have been prescribed patanol (olopatadine) for allergies, when I put the drops in, it burns my eyes. Is that normal?
I put eye drops in my eyes because my allergies make them itch real bad! Weird thing is when I put drops in they itch constantly still the drops dry.
Yes.: They act through mast cell stabilization and have antihistaminic properties. They are not corticosteroid drops. They are not habit forming. They are generally used for as long as they are needed.
