Can you be allergic to vaseline? I put it on my lips last night and now my mouth is swollen!

Not plain Vaseline: Plain vaseline is inert with respect to the immune system so will not cause any skin reaction. If it was flavored or had other additives, they rarely can cause a reaction. Most likely the swollen lips are unrelated to the vaseline. Read more

My daughter is allergic to vaseline based on her lips she used her friends lipsil now her lips are sore and swollen what can I buy to help her plzz?

Several options: Sorry to hear about the symptoms. Vaseline is rarely a great option for lip therapy. On the other hand, non-petroleum based moisturizers can help, in addition to antihistamines that may reduce the soreness/swelling. I like vanicream or cetaphil as moisturizers, and for antihistamines I like the non-drowsy options -- Allegra (fexofenadine) is a good choice, and it can last for 12-24 hours depending on the dose. can a child be allergic to petroleum in Vaseline or chapstick because my son broke out in hives and had swelling around his mouth eyes and other area?

can a child be allergic to petroleum in Vaseline or chapstick because my son broke out in hives and had swelling around his mouth eyes and other area?

Couple things: It's very unusual to be allergic to petrolatum jelly, though it is occlusive and cause itching. Many people are allergic to lip balms of all kinds. But that causes allergic contact dermatitis; e.g. swelling, redness, then peeling over days...usually not "hives", meaning urticaria, that comes and goes over hours. And not in areas not applied (like the eyelids). Read more
