Can a yeast infection delay your period? My period is over a month late, and no, I am not sexually active. I have creamy discharge cloudy urine.
It should not.: Missed/late period: low body wt, obesity, weight ^ or v, ^exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, perimenopause, just starting menstruation, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems (i.e., polycystic ovary syndrome). #1 reason is pregnancy.
No cannot: A yeast infection is a surface infection, and as such cannot impact physiological functions. So, no, a yeast infection cannot impact cycles, discomfort, amount of bleeding, or any other physiologic body function in a healthy person.
Absolutely: Although the yeast infection pill will not delay your period, the stress and sadness can certainly do this. Stress is a very common cause for delayed or abnormal menstrual cycles. Some women's systems are much more vulnerable to these changes in periods- some only need minor stress to upset things. It sounds like you would benefit from counseling re your stress and sadness. I have a UTI & a yeast infection. Now my period is 3 days late. Took a pregnant test & it came up negative. Cause of delay? & when should I test again?
Late period-had sex w condom 3 weeks ago preg test negative. Recently off bc pill. Lots of stress and recent yeast infection, can it all delay period?
Some thoughts...: In a woman with regular periods, some causes of a late period include: excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (like birth control pills), hormonal imbalances, etc… Seeing a doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome. Pregnancy is the common cause of a missed period, if sexually active.
Yes: If you are using intravaginal creams they may wash out more rapidly during your period, but it should not be a problem using them.
YES: But use medication for yeast infection or call PCP for same
Yes: Yes, but are you using a vaginal cream to treat infection? Might be best not to.
Maybe not yeast: The hormonal changes that can occur before the period starts can cause vaginal discharge. It may cause itching & white discharge, if over-the-counter treatments with -azole medications fix the problem it is fine. It not then you may need exam, could be bacterial vaginosis, and may need a different treatment.
Can be uncomfortable: If you are being treated with a vaginal cream, the tampon might absorb some of the cream so treatment isn't as effective. Also your vaginal tissue may be inflamed and wearing a tampon might exacerbate the inflammation.
Tampon use: When the health and integrity of the vagimal imtroitus is compromised, the use of a tampon or any means of preventing the natural purgative mechanism of the body to Protect the immunity of the canal is not recommended
