Can Xanax Help Lower Blood Pressure
Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine, it does not last long in the system. So when used regularly with multiple doses to treat anxiety, it is associated with inter-dose withdrawal, tolerance and a resulting increase level of baseline anxiety. So in anxiety clinics, we use it only in cases of " flight, dentist or other infrequent anxieties, ...Read more
No: Although being anxious about a blood pressure check could raise your blood pressure, e.g. White-coat hypertension, your every day blood pressure is not going to be while you're on xanax (alprazolam) and therefore the reading on xanax (alprazolam) may not be fully reflective of your true bps. A better option would be to check your BP at home regularly and keep a log and take with you to your doctor for review. ...Read more

I take klonipon 0.5 mg and Depakote 3 times a day what is a normal laying down blood pressure. I am in Xanax (alprazolam) detox
Normal range: BP lying down and sitting up are generally pretty much the same. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines, if done too rapidly, can result in higher blood pressure as a withdrawal syndrome response. Whatever your normal pressure is (110/70 is average) should be your lying down blood pressure while being tapered from xanax, (alprazolam) especially if Clonazepam is being used to help taper you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is it normal for my blood pressure to spike every time I have severe anxiety/panic attack? Took 1.50 Xanax (alprazolam) and my BP was still 138 at the drs.
138 Systolic?: Hoping you mean your blood pressure was 138 systolic (the top number)? Yes, your blood pressure increases with sympathetic discharge like you have during a severe anxiety or panic attack. It should come back down within a short while. The good news is that your heart is resilient and can deal with BP changes. Hoping you're working in therapy for anxiety also, and not relying on meds alone. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Anxiety > HTN: The blood pressure mentioned is borderline hypertension. Have you taken your blood pressure when you were not anxious? I would first recommend cbt (cognitive behavior therapy) to learn how your thought can lead to anxiety. Coping skills can be learned. If your BP is persistently in the range of 140/90, medication may be indicated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is it safe for me to be taking Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine), (lisdexamfetamine)Xanax, And Blood Pressure meds all at once? I only have anxiety and HBP when taking the Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). 2nd opinion?
It depends: Since I don't know your history, it's difficult to say if your medication regimen is appropriate. This shouldn't be considered a second opinion. Personally, I don't prescribe Xanax (alprazolam) because I am able to lower patient's anxiety with alternative treatments. At a minimum, I hope you're discussing your concetns with your physician. Since Vyvanse causes high blood pressure, I have concerns. Good luck.. ...Read more

Buspar (buspirone): If you have generalized anxiety disorder consider Buspar (buspirone) It is non habit forming. Deplin is a methyfolate supplements which can make your medication more effective. You are going to need to be weaned off of Xanax since you have been on it for so long. For panic disorder consider klonopin which is a longer acting bbenzodiazipine like xanax. If my normal blood pressure is naturally low could the dr prescribe for me an anti anxiety medicine like xanax or lexotanil?
Risky.: Most of the anti-anxiety medications that you've listed (like bromazepam) are in the benzodiazepine class which can lower blood pressure further. If you really need anti-anxiety medication, you should 1st undergo evaluation by a psychiatrist; let him/her know about your low blood pressure. They can help choose a medication from a different class (like SNRI, perhaps). Good luck. ...Read more
Taking Xanax (alprazolam) 4 emergency panics. B/p & pulse go pretty high, when having worrisome thoughts. Am I at risk for stroke/heart attack? Shud I see dr. 4 blood pressure? Seems when I'm calm it's normal b/p.
Yes: Sympathetic nervous system activation and the hpa axis are consistent with panic, as well as elevated blood pressure, reduced digestion, tingling on the skin surface, changes in pupils, etc., which pass after the panic. It still is a good idea to see your doctor about this and consider individual therapy rather than just using xanax (alprazolam). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Have shortness of breath and lightheaded. Blood work, 2 EKG and chest X-ray all normal. Cause? High blood pressure a possibility? On. 25 of Xanax (alprazolam)
I take xanax (alprazolam) for anxiety. Did fine until yesterday when blood pessure dropped to 80/50, went to ER. Is it due to xanax (alprazolam) or sth else (have periods, flu)?
All of the above: Antianxiety agents such as Xanax (alprazolam) can potentially lower blood pressure. It can also depend on total amount taken. But your significantly low blood pressure might have also been due to dehydration resulting from symptoms of the flu. Heavy blood loss from menses can potentially also drop pressure, but probably not in and of itself. Hopefully your visit to the ER was of benefit. All the best. ...Read more
