I go to the gym three times a week, I train my muscles too ofcourse! I want to eat healthy but I don't know exactly what to eat to get even fitter (?)
A variety of foods: Healthy diets have natural foods that take time to chew but contain few calories. Examples include carrots, celery, and leafy lettuce (little or no salad dressing). When shopping for fruits, buy small ones no bigger than a tennis ball, because fruits have sugar. Drinks without calories include water and green tea. Surely avoid sugar and simple starch calories. Eat some protein with each meal. ...Read more

Am I doing more harm than good by doing push-ups everyday? I am a healthy, active guy in my late 20s. In an effort to rev up my metabolism and gain strength I put together a training calendar. I work out with weights three times a week, focusing on diff
There: There is nothing inherently dangerous about doing push ups. You are wise to monitor your symptoms and cut back or modify your workout if pain develops. My only concerns relate to how quickly you are building up as well as concerns related to strength balances. When exercises are increased, a rule of thumb is to avoid increasing by any more than 20% per week. Going from 100 to 150 pushups is a 50% increase. The risk of injury is greater with rapid increases in either the weight or number of repetitions. The other concern is strength balance. Pushups strengthen the pectoral muscles. Over-development of the pects tends to pull the shoulders forward and may contribute to problems in the shoulder or neck. In general, if you strengthen the muscles in the chest, you should try to do a similar amount of exercise that strengthens the muscles in the back (between the shoulder blades). Adding some rowing exercises or reverse flies may help maintain balance. Similarly, doing too many squats or leg press can increase imbalances between the quads and hamstrings. People often focus more on building up the muscles that they see in the mirror and forget about the muscles that they don't see (but still need to be strong to maintain proper balances). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
