Can a wisdom teeth that is in the bone and causing severe pain to the jaw and other teeth, cause your head to hurt? And what should I do?

See your dentist: Definitely, yes. In many cases wisdom teeth should be extracted due to complications associated with the presence of tooth decay. It is a common procedure, generally performed under local anesthesia, intravenous (IV) sedation, or general anesthesia by a specially trained dentist or oral surgeon. Often extracting a wisdom tooth is the best solution. See your dentist for x-ray and evaluation. Read more

Can wisdom teeth cause neck spasms and head pressure?

Can wisdom teeth cause neck spasms and head pressure?

It's possible: The nerves that supply feeling to your teeth, and wisdom teeth, also supply sensation to the muscles of your face, head, and neck. While it will not cause spasms to these muscles, the discomfort from your teeth can be felt in all of those muscles and be felt as the same. Myalgia in these areas can also be related to tmj/tmd problems and should evaluated by a dentist. Read more

Discoloration/pain: You had surgery. There will be a healing curve. Not knowing how long ago the surgery was done, or how difficult the extractions were, the best advice I can offer you is: 1. Follow your specialist Oral Surgeon's written instructions to the letter. 2. If you have any questions, or need post surgical support (and it sounds as if you do), call the Surgeon's office. Hi. Could sore gums around my wisdom teeth and a sore jaw cause a sharp pain in the back left side of my head?

Hi. Could sore gums around my wisdom teeth and a sore jaw cause a sharp pain in the back left side of my head?

Head pain: Sharp head pains in the back of your head are unlikely to be directly caused by those dental problems. They are more likely to be neuralgia which is an irritable/mildly inflamed superficial nerve in the scalp (occipital neuralgia). This tends to resolve without any treatment. More sustained pain can be due to a pinched occipital nerve where it emanates from the neck vertebra from a spur or disc Read more

Can your wisdom teeth lead to pain in the back of the head?

Not usually: Wisdom tooth pain is at the site of the tooth and may radiate, but not usually tothe back of the head. Go to the dentist and have your third molar wisdom teeth checked out and ruled out. If the dentist cannot help, then run, do not walk, to the physician for further examination to determine the source of your pain. Pain is the body telling you something is wrong and you need help right-away. Read more

Wisdom teeth extracted tuesday 2 on left cut out & stitched up. Migraine on left- head & jaw since wed night. Can't go back. Normal?

Possibly: With the recent tooth extraction, I would worry about localized infection. If the teeth were removed from the upper jaw, this can cause pain over the frontal temporal region of the skull. Best check with your dentist to see if there is any complications from the extraction. Read more
