Can Vitex Stop Your Period
I want to start taking vitex to regulate my hormones. I haven't got a period for 2 months since I stop bc on march. Please what can I do?. Is it safe?
??: If you mean the plant vitex, why did you think it would help you? And why do you think your hormones need "regulation" in the first place. There is not enough information to help you, but your doctor should be able to provide the correct information. ...Read more

Yes: Vitex is a wonderful tonic that helps to regulate the menstrual cycle, often helps pms and may enhance fertility, it is safe to take on a daily basis. While the article I am linking advises taking it 3x/day, I find once a day is usually adequate: http://www.Susunweed. Com/article_vitex_redmoonherbs. Htm. ...Read more
No: There is some scientific evidence that vitex agnus-castus (chaste tree berry) may help with pms symptoms and cyclic mastalgia (breast pain) but no studies showing that it helps women with ovulation disorders. If you have no periods you aren't ovulating (releasing an egg) every month. If you're not trying to conceive see a gynecologist, if you're trying to conceive see a fertility specialist (REI) ...Read more

I took 4th round of clomid, (clomiphene) missing period for over a week, taking red clovertincture, vitex, test was negative. What's wrong with me?
Clomdi and herbs: It sounds as if you didn't ovulate or that you're pregnant. I suggest seeing your gyn. The negative issue with doing Clomd for 4 cycles continuously is that the drug is retained by your body, and the 4th dose is higher than you expect. You may wish to consider another ovulation inducing medication such as letrozole. ...Read more
I am currently 4 days before my period is due and just today I realized I'm seeing blood. I started taking vitex but normal period since last month?

When should I expect my period after lupron (leuprolide)? I was on the 3-month shot. Do u think vitex could help?
1-6 months: It varies. Some women will resume quickly, within 1 months while others may be suppressed for longer. I would certainly expect things to be back to baseline by 6 months if not sooner. There is no research regarding the use of vitex (chasteberry) in this situation. But there is some research that support the use of vitex as a hormone modulator for premenstrual syndrome, so it's plausable. ...Read more

Does the pill Vitex really help you regulate periods even though I haven't had a period in about 6 years and what Red Raspberry Leaf Tea?
Probably not: Vitex is a herbal supplement that is said to help hormonal imbalance. If you haven't had a period for 6 years, it would be very surprising if Vitex caused you to have a period (almost a miracle). If you believe in miracles, try it. ...Read more
Was off birth control pill and got period after 8 months, after taking vitex for a week. Did I ovulate or was that anovulatory period?
If you can go 8 months without menses, you should be seen by an obgyn. This is not normal and means that you did not ovulate for 8 months, there is a risk of abnormal uterine lining growth when a woman does not menstruate for 3 months. Therefore, a woman should have a menses (or shredding of the uterine cavity every 3 months.)
Vitex is not fda approved &has never been proven by clinical study. ...Read more
No period for a month '13, prescribed medroxyprogesterone & period started. Now not ovulating (per kit), I take levothyroxine 88mg, ok to take vitex?
See a physician: There are many reasons why women have irregular cycles uncontrolled thyroid disease is only one reason. Since this appears to be going on for a while (i.e. You needed Provera (medroxyprogesterone) to start your last period) you will need a full evaluation to determine the cause. I would not recommend adding herbal therapy until you have seen a physician. ...Read more

Monthly Lupron (leuprolide)?: Were you on the 3-month shot — your period should return soon — or the monthly version? There is evidence that vitex (chaste tree) may help with pms and cyclic mastalgia (breast pain) but no studies showing that it helps women who are ttc. We don't know if it's safe to take vitex when you're pregnant either. See a rei physician if you came off monthly Lupron (leuprolide) to find out why your period is not back. ...Read more

I have pcos, taking vitex to regulate my cycle. Mild continuous cramping 6 days after period with regular unprotected sex. Wha could be causing this?
Unknown: Hard to specifically answer this Question. Many patients with PCOS are unable to generate an adequate endometrium after a cycle starts. The result is continuous bleeding and pain. The estrogen levels are not high enough to develop an endometrium that will stop bleeding so patients continue to bleed and have pain until the estrogen levels get to a point to stop bleeding. This often takes weeks ...Read more
Gained weight, 2 yrs missing periods or very lite. Took vitex 2 months, 1st mth long but normal flow. 2nd month very heavy with small clots, normal?
Irregular periods: Vitex is not a medication that I am familiar with. I see that it is a herbal supplement also called Chaste berry that makes claim to assist in cycle regulation although there is no good scientific evidence to support this. I would see your obgyn and ask to be tested for PCOS. Then effective options for menstrual cycle regulation can be discussed. ...Read more

Have regular periods but don't ovulate every month. Can I take maca root or vitex to help me ovulate or will it mess up my periods?
See a specialist: If you have regular periods you are ovulating regularly — a period comes about 2 weeks after you ovulate unless you're pregnant that cycle. Women who don't ovulate regularly have irregular periods or no periods, (but may get spotting or bleeding without ovulating). Neither maca root nor vitex supplements have been shown to help female fertility. At 43, I recommend seeing a fertility specialist ...Read more
