Dementia pt on pureed food but now can eat regular food. But can not eat fresh fruit unless pureed and thickened. why?
He ate whole canned fruit.
Difficulty w/ swallo: Somebody must have thought the person your concerned about has difficulty with chewing and or swallowing his food. Then he might get food into his lungs and get an aspiration pneumonia. So he is being fed like a child. I don't know if he has dentures yet but that would be another consideration in feeding issues. Reminds of the old riddle: what walks on 4 ft, then 2 ft, then 3 ft. ...Read more
Like to eat vegetables by sauteing them in 2-3 tbsp of oil and some spices. Is it healthy to have vegies like this everyday?2-3 tbsp oil is not frying?
Which oil? That is: most important to know before answering this question. If it's GMO canola, peanut, or vegetable oil, STOP! If you are using virgin, cold pressed olive oil and sauteing at low temp, that is okay! Raw, virgin coconut oil is better to put on after cooking. If the veges are browning, then that is almost frying, as you are forming acrylamides (browning) on your food and should be careful.Hope this helps. ...Read more

I'm vegetarian, but eat fruits, veggies, tons of beans as well as eggs, yogurt, nuts for proteins. My Vit. B 12 is 920. Is it bad to be so high?
Your level not high: 920 is well within the normal range (presuming your lab has the standard normal range) so it is not "so high." There is no known toxicity of B12. Levels that are above normal in those not supplementing can be a sign of health problems, but those problems are not caused by B12. I m tryin to lose some xtra calories! i daily eat freash vegies cooked in chilli and soy sauce! are these sauce fattening?
Not directly, but...: The calories are extremely low - so in that way they're not fattening. Also veggies are not fattening. Even a bit of healthy oil (olive, canola) for cooking is fine. Other herbs & spices won't add calories either. But.... The sodium in soy sauce may cause water retention, etc so don't over-do that ingredient. Use a low sodium type or substitute / supplement with lemon or lime juice. Good for you! ...Read more

Raw food diet is great, but some raw veggies cause gas and bloating for some. How to improve digestion of raw food? #nqlu i'm trying to eat more raw food but get way too much gas or just don't digest some veggies and seeds. I try the food combining sugges
Unfortunately : Unfortunately there is no way around this problem, the issue here is Cellulose (fiber found in raw vegetables) this is a carbohydrate that is very difficult for the human body to digest. For this reason, if a lot is consumed the result is gas, bloating and nausea. You should also be aware that for this reason many of the valuable nutrients in raw vegetables are actually not being absorbed by the body, which defeats the intended purpose of eating this way. I believe that steaming your vegetables would be better on your digestive system, and would give your body more nutrients. On the other hand, you can try using a digestive aid before consuming raw vegetables. Examples of naturally occurring digestive enzymes include aloe vera and papain. These can be found at your local vitamin and herb retailer. Good luck! ...Read more

What's so bad about potato chips? Is it okay if I eat them as a part of a balanced healthy vegan diet?
I know ....: How can something that tastes so good be so bad for you! The two big problems are fat and salt!
